All,
I'm probably going to pull the trigger on a G75VX to add to my current G75 (wife needs a laptop). Here's the issue... The spec sheet for the BestBuy model is showing the Graphics as GTX670M not GTX670MX.

Can someone help confirm that this is getting the MX graphics? I can see no reason why they'd be selling an old architecture 670m in their new VX model unless it's just ASUS trying to get rid of supply.

I was really looking forward to the potential of the 670MX, but the spec sheet doesn't show. Is this a typo?

I have seen a lot of mistakes in the shops online regarding the VX. Usually it says VX but then the description is the VW. And if the price in my country is 1700 eur I wouldnt expect nothing below 2000 USD... Be carfeull ordering the laptops, always check the 670MX.

That looks like a mislabeled 660m SKU.

BTW, you know that Best Buy skims 1year off the warranty, correct?

It's definitely the VX: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+17.3%26%2334%3B+Laptop+-+8GB+Memory+-+1TB+Hard+Drive+-+Black/6769458.p?id=1218806577921&skuId=6769458&st=G75VX&cp=1&lp=1

As far as the warranty, I"m a systems engineer and unless there's a hardware issue I generally don't need any support at all. It's a risk for sure, but at a cost of $1299 + a second hard drive and 8GB of memory, I think it's still a very good deal. I'm not overly concerned about the warranty, but I am concerned that the VX Is showing as coming with the 670M and not specifically calling out the 670MX.

No mention of Thunderbolt at all.
Can anyone please confirm whether ALL g75vx will come with thunderbolt built-in, or we'll have another round of retailer lies and broken promises?

a happy G75vx owner.

If it's really the correct model I'm concerned on why that's so cheap.

Best Buy ASUS tend to be inferior to their actual SKU couterparts (Be it a reduced warranty, modified video card, etc) in order to meet corporate margin terms.

I would be suspect until we see official release info from ASUS

Well, the G75 Best Buy model had the 660m which I'd say is arguably just as good as the 670 if mildly overclocked, but the 670mx was basically the main selling point for the VX model and even changing the model number at all.

If Best Buy was going to sell another model with the same 670m that's available in other VW model systems, I'd expect it to have simply come out as a newer VW Best Buy model.

My hope is that this is a typo and that Best Buy WILL actually offer the 670mx in their model. This is STILL a stripped model with a crappy HDD, only 8GB of RAM, lesser warranty etc, but the 670mx card could very well be offered with their new release.

I will bring up that the G73JH model that Best Buy released had the same Radeon 5870m that all of the other models had, but instead of a full 1080p display, they put in a really subpar 1600x1200 display. Many people opted for the cheaper Best Buy model and went 3rd party for a replacement screen.

I'm very hopeful that this is a typo in their spec page and that this is the full blown 670mx. It's definitely a new SKU with new spec page because they have the G75VW models listed with the 660m graphics listed.

This computer is exactly like mine except the graphics card, and if it really is 1299 I wish I would have waited. 50 more dollars for a better graphics card would have been worth it

lilfoot95 - Yeah, I bought a Best Buy G75 with the 660m that I love, but I hear you and I think no matter when you buy you'll end up with buyer's remorse because there's always something new coming out. That said, I'm extremely pleased with the G75 I have now.

I just actually posted a question to Best Buy regarding the specific model that's going to be inside, so hopefully I get a response. In my opinion it doesn't make any sense for ASUS to release a model of the G75VX with a 670m with the old architecture because that video card is already an option in the VW model line. From my perspective, the 670mx is the main difference between models so I'm really hopeful that that's actually the case here.

I'll post an update if/when I hear back from Best Buy on the matter, but I wanted to give a heads up... If this does come out, my wife is going to be getting my current VW and I'll be happily using the VX :).

I wouldn't put it past them.

By adding it to the 'new' SKU will confuse consumers into believing that it's the same as the OTHER VX series.

They used the same tactic in the past with the gimped down 560m in their G74SX sku.

Well >< I just bought the G75 from best buy 2 weeks ago. I am loving it but can also exchange it if I like. I'm just curious if it the VX will have the same wifi network card because that is the only thing I am having trouble with on the G75VW.

What I really want to know is if the sound quality has improved over the G75VW. Are there any hints as to whether the G75VX will have better speakers, especially concerning having a better sub-woofer/removed subwoofer? And also, has the problem where the speakers play while headphones are plugged in been fixed?

Ok, well it's now Feb 13th, and not even a hint from ASUS as far as a U.S. release date for the G75VX or any kind of notification that it may be delayed, or canceled for U.S. Customers. Is this really how ASUS intends to treat their loyal customers, by just ignoring them? All this while customers all over the world already have it. If I don't hear anything soon, I'm taking my money to another company. Refusing to simply acknowlege part of your customer base is a horrible business model and will surely affect my future plans of purchasing from this company, pretty sad though as I love ASUS products....

The last I spoke with ASUS the G75VX was still going to be a Microsoft Store exclusive and there were no plans to bring it to anyone else.

There's a very valid reason to why the G75VX is being held up for release.

It's not the first time they list the vx...they did it like 3 months ago, and removed it, for the same price as well. They wouldn't sell a vx at pretty much the same price of the BBK5....they will remove it soon most likely

it's also possible that they (msft and best buy) are holding the release until their current stock of G75VW sells out. In that case ASUS would have no idea when the product will be available for consumer purchase

and what is that valid reason? And does anyone know if the version with the best specs will be available? I have no intention of buying a gutted out system! lol I'm really hoping to get the model with draft AC, 3D Display, SSD, BT 4, another thing, will the CPU have unlocked multipliers?

well I have an vx but I'm in Europe so suck it Americans ( just kidding ). All vx's have the mx card...When I bought mine, 670m was listed on the website , but when I called they checked and told me it was mx. Also I think that all vx's have thunderbolt, but not the ac wireless ( mine doesn't)... as for other issues: sound is fine for me ( no headphones/sub woofer interference)... the most expensive model comes with ssd, 16 gb of ram, 3D display, blue ray player and ac wireless. But this is on European market, so I'm not sure if they will be shipping the same models to USA.

Do not buy it from Bestbuy, buy it from hidevolution. I ordered mine from hidevolution, they more or less negotiated the price with me and they put in diamond thermal paste (non-standard), wireless AC is standard, 32 GB Ram (upgraded from 8), blu-ray dual layer burner (upgraded from DVD-RW), 256 GB SSD (upgraded from 1TB HDD), bluetooth 4.0 is standard. You can further upgrade the processor to the i7-3940XM 3.0GHz, and all of the ones in between. create an account online with them, customize your laptop and add it to your cart, after that, call them up and work over the details with them, they have amazing customer support!!! I rarely say that.... they also said that currently ASUS has no intention of selling the 3D version in the U.S. and if they do, it probably won't be for at least 4 months.... of course if you have an external 3D display with HDMI 1.4 it will display 3D from the laptop... They also sent recovery disks...

OK, so I bought the G75VX-BHI7N11... can anyone tell me if there is any reason that would prevent me from putting the 3D display in it? I found the screen and internal IR device for it. If it is possible, would I have to do any soldering?
