og btw the driver is not a full tested one, it is how ever reconmended by nvidia due to the fc3 improvements.
so its not really a beta nore a whql driver either.
I have installed it tho :D, remember always select to do a clean install

@house7, you're getting the wrong version (desktop, instead of notebook).

it looks like asus is not allowing for nvidia drivers but only asus approved nvidia drivers

rewben
12-09-2012, 06:17 AM
oh.. there is such restriction now? really sorry to hear that :/

i have installed the drivers from geforce.com in my w8. it did ask question about whether i trusted the publisher or not; i just said 'yes', without ticking the 'always trust' option. it went through fine.

house7
12-09-2012, 06:21 AM
yeah, stupid restriction...looks like a g75VX thing...as VWs dont seem to have that issue

rewben
12-09-2012, 06:23 AM
there must be a way to allow that :/ i read it somewhere in the forum that these kind of things can be bypassed. it's in w8, not ASUS's machine.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem with my Asus g75 VX, GTX670MX and Windows 8. None of the official NVIDIA drivers could be installed on my notebook. Here ist what I have found out:

My first guess is that Windows 8 "changes" the hardware ID of the graphics card on OS level. This will implicit that the NVDIA installer couldn't find the expected "hardware ID" of my graphics card and says "not compatible hardware found".

If this is true I need an updated Driver (maybe the .inf files) with "new" hardware IDs inserted.

Here ist an comparison between both drivers and ini files.

guys it wont kill you, to do a bit of research youself.
from nvidia select drivers beta & legacy, thne input the specs you are looking for.

Version: 310.70 BETA

You are right but that won't answer the question if this driver could be installed or not. For Windows 8 it doesn't work at all. It says "no compatible hardware found". As posted earlier the hardware ID of the ASUS 670mx isn't listed in the driver package 310.70 or any other driver. Someone in another forum wrote that maybe Windows 8 would "change" the hardware ID so that the driver won't find it. Interesting is if on Windows 7 or Windows 8 the hardware IDs are the same or not.

Non of the replied solutions work for me. Can't install any official NVIDIA drivers. I've installed Windows 7 and it's the same. "No campatible hardware found". When I write my graphics card Hardware ID into the driver .ini file setup starts. After a few seconds it fails...:/ I have no idea what I can do...

Asus G75VX and 670MX on Windows 7 now.

3dMark11 works on Win 7 with Asus Nvidia drivers 306.14. GPU-Z craches if I try to start it. Good news are that I overclocked my 670mx.

1. Clocks: 600/1400 --> 3776 Points --> 52C
2. Clocks: 737 (max in Afterburner)/1700 --> 4560 Points --> 55C
3. Clocks: 737/1800 --> 4596 --> 55C

No issues until now. System is very quite and cool. No artifacts.

Because the 670M is based on the older architecture whilst the 660M and 680M (mostly mentioned by Nvidia) are using new Kepler based designs.. Hence why we have the 670MX now which has been beefed up with the new tech..

Go a page back where nostrora (http://rog.asus.com/forum/member.php?89900-nostrora) was showing everyone how to get the 310.70's to work (since the 670MX was unsupported in them) are you still trying to do this with the newer ones?
