Hi guys,

Firstly sorry for my poor english.

My story is here:

I bought a new G75VW on best buy one week ago. It has 1 TB HDD and as you know extra empty drive slot.
So i bought Kingston 120 GB SSD and put it to empty slot. First BIOS recognized it then windows recognized.
Now I can use SSD an extra memory like D,F etc. I can install programs, games to SSD. So until there is no problem.

As you might guess, I want to install Windows 8 to this SSD.

But there are some problems:

- Windows 8 is pre-installed, product key is in BIOS. I tried to install fresh Win8 but product key is required.

- ASUS Recovery Utility is no more exists on new Windows 8 products and not able for download from ASUS website. So system recovery is not an option.

- Another option is CLONING HDD to SSD. But this is not recommended by some users on internet. HDD to HDD is can be ,but HDD to SSD is not good.

- Now i am trying to FULL RESET to windows 8. Maybe this is works. If I succeed it, I will update here.

Is there any successful SSD upgrader in this forum? Thank you.

You can find some program and run it to list your windows 8 installation key ...

Try this google search "how to find windows 8 product key" ...

I can find product key you are right. But some other victims say that this product key is not working when trying to install new Win8. They say that, occurs some conflict when after type product key. I didn't try this. It will be my other struggle.

you can try get the product key using Belarc Advisor (http://pcsupport.about.com/od/system-security/fr/belarc-advisor-review.htm).

install and run the program (you can skip the network check in the process to save some time), at the end of the analysis a HTML file will be generated. press ctrl+f to search for Software Licenses link, click it and it will bring you to the licenses part.

you can try to use that key to do the fresh install.

oh, a fresh install means download new w8; remove whatever you have now and start fresh.

use this (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=262204) to download the iso.

you can make a nice usb bootable by formatting it with fat32 then copy all the contents in the iso into it. w8 usb bootable is uefi ready.

edit: oh yes, you must disable secureboot control and enable launch CSM in the bios before you can boot with the usb.

I really appreciate for your help.

Now, i am downloading the iso.
Shuld i remove out other HDD before installing windows? Or should i put SSD instead of HDDs slot?

nice :)

yes, it's best to do that to avoid confusion. keep your stock drive for a little while. you might need it later.

I have no idea what other users recommend but for me a program named Macrium do the trick with cloning several partitions from the HDD to the SDD ( personally I cloned all system partitions as well as C but without the recovery partition because I wanted to have some free space on the SDD for games. I kept the old C and recovery partitions on the HDD however if I need to use them as a backup ). I have done that over an week ago and I have no problems at all.

Glad to help. Sorry for the very short instructions but unfortunately I usually have no time to make it more extended.

I may try to summarize all that windows transfer suggestions when I have more time...

I don't thinks so the key is embedded there on your MB somewhere you can't change that. If you read the sticky (http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?28758-GUIDE-G55-G75-Upgrade-Notes&country=&status=) on update G75/55 NB you shouldn't have any problems with either Win7 or Win8

A G75VW with Win8 may have an upgraded Win7 to Win8 installed I would verify that you have a straight up win8 Install. Reason being is if this is the case you won't have an imbedded Key on your MB!! Either way I would extract the Key or Keys? Create an Image of that hard drive and store it for later putting it back to factory condition.
