I have looked around and have seen a few post about this already but I wanted to get some clarification.

I am looking upgrade the RAM in my G75VW-BBK5. Could someone let me know if the RAM listed below will work, or if there is a better option for my money.

Also I am looking into adding a SSD for my OS. Can anyone make a recommendation based off of their personal experience not just speculation. I am looking for 120-250 GB for around $150.

Sorry for the semi-duplicate post, but I couldn't find a post with my specific questions.

Thanks in advance.

Hey there sap995, welcome to the forum..

That ram should work fine as it seems to fit all the requirements.. Never heard of G-skill tho..

About the SSD, i personally am using the OCZ Vertex 4 - 256GB

I recommend if you do get this, make sure to update firmware to 1.5 before installing windows onto it and making it the primary drive. Gives massive performance improvements and optimizations for the New Everest Architecture.

yeah the ram will work. for 36 bucks thats a good enough deal.

150 for 250gb is a little tight for good ssd. but its not impossible. do try to aim for more than 128gb. benchmarkers have shown better performance for 250 gb range ssd. take into consideration over-positioning also ( unallocated space).

heard good things about the intel 520. my friend has one in his clevo. but they dont come cheap...
the cheaper intel 330 might be more within your price range
i would recommend the samsung 840. samsung went the apple way and designed and manufactured the controller, nand and firmware. they have exactly 2 flagship models (not including the 470 which has been phased out). 830 in 3 sizes. 840 in 3 sizes. i have the older 830.

i saw this. qiuite a good deal.
