Okay guys I am looking to put in an Intel 520 SSD 120 GB. So two questions. First is thoughts on the Intel 520 good or bad? The second is has anyone made a system image of everything they have and restore it to a SSD? I use Arconis Disk Director to resize the partition to make the image smaller for a SSD.

The 520 is a great SSD - boot time 20 - 25 seconds.

I have an Intel 520 180GB SSD and didn't have any problems making a system image with Macrium Reflect. Reflect will resize the partition.

To download the free version, just scroll down to the bottom of the page click on the download button.

Make an image of the HDD, then just re-image it to the new SSD or clone the HDD to the new SSD.

hi i would like to know how do i insert an SSD into the MSata port of my G55vw? i doubt i'm skilled enough to do it myself. So do i take it to an
ASUS service center or is it safe to do it at a shop without voiding the warranty? I'm from Malaysia btw...

it's impossible to insert the msata ssd into a g55 without voiding warranty (if you do it yourself, that is); you could try to ask if the local service center will help. the last time i checked in the service center at LYP, they only handle warranty work and services, not customizations.

there are many choices for that range (240-256gb); these are just my preferences: crucial m4 (slower), intel 335 and 520; samsung 830, 840 (tlc) and 840 pro.

well, whether it's a SSD of high-performance grade or consumer grade, it's very likely that you will not feel the difference in normal computing usage.
