Hi,

I see on the Asus web site there is a reference to a 1600x900 screen for the G46VW. Also, I read it on the ASUS French and Portuguese web sites. This does not mean these have actually been released.

Do these really exist, or are these still being build?

Has anyone actually got their hands on one of the G46VW with a 1600x900 screen?

Regards, S

I doubt it will come out. I was looking into this too and found out that G46vw uses some strange connector for the lcd and apparently there isnt any 14 inch lcd with that type of connector.

Yes - the display uses eDP, but they still show all the configurations on the product page.

The screen thing, I have the quote on the thread I linked that tells about how the screen on the G46vw uses a eDP display instead of the regular LVDS screens which makes it impossible to upgrade after the fact since there are no eDP screens at the moment that make 14 inch 900p screens. Heres the quote for that,

Hey guys. Ted from HIDevolution here. I'm not sure if it's been covered, but the G46 uses an eDP display connector (not the standard LVDS), and a 14" 1600x900 eDP display does not exist right now."

Someone else pointed out that 1600 x 900 wxga++ screens do appear to exist for the G46vw. I don't have the person's name or original link to properly attribute the find.

I searched the US site and found similar information: http://www.lcds4less.com/AsusLaptop__Asus_G46VW__laptop-screens.html .

I can't confirm connection type or any of that but I take this as a promising sign that Ted's quote above may no longer be correct.

How much better are the WXGA ++ screens (1600x900) than the WXGA HD (1337x768)? What kind of screens do G55VW have?
