I've the original Window Defender installed. My Model is Asus G55VW-S1216H. Could it because that the ram is only 4GB? I've order a 8GB 1600mhz ram already.

Yea its a tad slow at times...even my task manager takes some time to load up.
I guess its just one of the few Cons of this laptop.

I have a g55 16gb - win8 64bit - 1tb HDD

for common usage there should be no issue with stock 4gb. perhaps it's the hdd; but i am not really sure because i have changed mine with ssd at the very early days of my g55 (back in june 2012).

edit: ah @redtiger explains it well enough :)

This is an issue with "Windows Shell" and "Shell Extensions". There is a program to help you enable/disable Shell Extensions, sorry don't have time to find it. I too had slow right click (especially when you right click on a file yeah?) but when sorting out my Shell Extensions I don't have a problem anymore. Good luck.

i think it is not RAM issue, ok, when you get 8 GB RAM and tell us the problem is occur or not.

I have an Asus G55vw-DH71. I too noticed what you are experiencing briefly. I say briefly because on my third day of ownership (today), I installed an additional 8gb of matching RAM as well as a 500 GB SSD. I no longer experience these delays. I agree with Rewben that it is a possible hard drive issue. I had a few instances where my computer bogged down when I was doing nothing, and in task manager it said my hard drive was running at 99% for no reason at all. Does your model have the 500GB 7200rpm hard drive?

I got the laptop install with the Window Shells software. However, I don't know which options to disable? Anyone could help?

Can you list what Shell Extensions are shown?

Well, I done a reinstall for my Window. Now everything is going smoothly again. Well for the shell extension, it's a very long list. By disabling atheros would does anything to the pc?

Technically no, because Shell Extension is just mainly for that Right-Click menu. If everything is smooth, you DON'T need to disable any shell extension. But if you notice right-click is slow again, check to see if ~NEW~ Shell Extensions were added that may be causing slowness.

Good luck.
