I recently bought the G75VW-NS71 from newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230408

I thought the monitor was capable of a 120hz refresh rate, but I am unable to set the refresh rate that high. 60hz is the highest it will allow and if I try to set it higher by adding my own custom resolution the screen is completely distorted. Anyone else have this issue? I am incorrect about the refresh rate this monitor can support?

Thanks for the assistance.

Unfortunately your assumption of a 120 hz refresh rate for the laptop display was incorrect. Only the "3D Ready" G75 models with "3D" in the model# suffix have that refresh rate (see http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?21507-Confused-about-3D-A-Guide-to-G-series-and-VG-series-monitor-compatibility-and-terms).

Your graphics card IS capable of driving a 120 hz refresh rate external monitor.

Ok I thought that might be the case. This laptop does say on the label Nvidia "3DTV Play" That means it can display 3d on an
external monitor. At least now I know it is working as intended. Thanks for the answer.
