View Full Version : G75 660m video card throttling

I have a G75 with a 660m that I purchased refurb on newegg. I ran Kombustor today and it reports the GPU is throttling -545mhz taking the clock speed down to 405 mhz from the 950mhz it should be running at. Temps are at 53c load/38c idle, AC's plugged in and the Power4gear control panel is set to High Performance.

Is Kombustor reporting this wrong or should I send this in for repair?

same is at the test of furmark. it seems as i read on nvidia forums. AMD/nVidia have throttled their cards when they detect furmark is running. if u ran a game or benchmark as heaven u will see it doesnt throttle and it works at 950mhz.
They're designed to throttle under unreasonably heavy loads to stop the damage. From what I heard, the newer nvidia drivers have a flag that will throttle the GPU when furmark is running. The same is also true of MSI Kombustor.

Just did some looking around and confirmed what you are saying. It's working as intended then, so I wont mess with it. Thanks for the tip :)
