Fresh Windows8 Pro Install w/Drivers
Clean from the Inside-out
Complete tear down and re-paste of the CPU & GPU before doing a fresh OS wipe.

The G73JH WILL take & recognize the full 16gig of RAM over the 4 - SoDIMM slots - though unless its a "my dick is bigger than yours" situation you mostly wont need or utilize the full 16gigs of RAM.

Booting into the Windows8 Pro install menu by spamming F8 at start-up with disk in drive, enter your CD-Key, wipe your drive clean and load up. After installation is complete, hop on your Wi-Fi and proceed to Windows Update until there is no more.

If you are doing a fresh install using the Upgrade Key you purchased online, Windows8 may not allow you to properly authenticate your copy, instead wanting you to install an older copy of Windows then Upgrade to Windows8 – **** that. Instead do this.

“Windows 8 clean install with upgrade license key error code 0xC004F061”
 So here's how to fix it:

Right click at the bottom left corner of the screen (where the start menu used to be!)
Click "Command Prompt (Admin)"
In the black command prompt window type "regedit" and press enter
The registry editor will appear
Browse to the following key:

In here you will see the item "MediaBootInstall"
Double click it and change the value to 0
Close the registry editor

Return to the command prompt and type "slmgr /rearm" and press enter

Now reboot the computer and you can activate your cleanly installed Windows, with the upgrade license key.

Now for the Drivers & Utilities – install in whatever order you care for. (Most of the ASUS Utilities are bloat ware and serve no real purpose – I do recommend “FancyStart” though) http://support.asus.com/Search/KDetail.aspx?SLanguage=en&no=955&t=0

Excellent Guide Cauldron. How did you get the brightness controls working though? Mine does not work either through the hot keys or the Windows settings. The hot keys bring up the slider which does animate as if adjusting, but nothing happens to the screen brightness. Any ideas?
