Download the nVidia driver from the ASUS website and see if that one helps. As to Roxio player, try going to their website and seeing if there is a newer version available for download.

NVIDIA driver remnants that fail to uninstall can cause video issues. I recommend updating to the latest NVIDIA driver version by booting into Windows Safe Mode and performing a 'clean' NVIDIA install (launch the NVIDIA installer, choose "Custom Instal" and check the "Clean Installation" checkbox). The clean install will hopefully remove any previously uninstalled NVIDIA driver remnants while performing the installation from Safe Mode will disable other running drivers (such as Antivirus) that may interfere with your NVIDIA driver installation.

Try using Windows System Restore to restore your system to a time when your laptop functioned correctly.

Does anybody know where I can find the Roxio Cineplayer BD 3D update I cant find it on the website ?

I have the Roxio CinePlayer BD since I bought my G74 in October of 2011.
The only update was the version 5.8.A06 in 2012. No later update/s until now, as far as I know..

What version of the player do you currently have?..

Visiting the Roxio website, one can't help but think that the CinePlayer BD
is an abandoned software by its makers.

I read somewhere that some of the newer 3D/BluRay movies can't play on the CinePlayer.
Feeling lucky it hasn't failed me yet. But wouldn't think twice of changing it, the moment
it stops serving its purpose.

You can try updating it (fingers-crossed) to 5.8.A06 by opening your CinePlayer > Help tab..
It's how I updated mine way back last year. Good luck..

Did try doing that keeps saying there is not updates for it which there should be.

Which reminds me of a similar experience when I was updating my CinePlayer.
It kept saying "no updates", but I kept on trying to update it randomly, just the same.
Finally hit the jackpot, and got the 5.8.A06 version. :)

But if your persistence doesn't work, I would suggest you buy any of the better
BD players (e.g. PowerDVD 12, etc.).

Oh thats nice mybe it will work for me :) if not guess will have to get Power dvd 12 if thats the best one to get.

Not much that I can think of. The original 3D technology does have some limits and issues, and those are (from what I understand) corrected in the newer version of 3D Vision (2).

Here's a couple of threads that may help with NVIDIA 3DVision ghosting:

Check out this thread: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?29377-G73SW-Shutting-Down-for-no-reason&country=&status=. It may need to cool down before you can start it again.

It's testing you, trying to find your breaking point...

Seriously, the thermal paste that allows heat transfer from the processors to the heatsinks drys out and becomes less effective over time, leading to overheating. Take a look at http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?946-G73JH-GPU-Overheating-Observations-and-Suggestions-(Read-This-First).

You may be able to reduce temperatures by blowing out your fan intakes and exhausts with compressed gas. If not, you're probably looking at a repaste.

Should I get a fan for my laptop that would it help from overhearting.

A good cleaning may be all you need. Cooling pads are ineffective for G Series laptops since the laptop fan intakes are not on the bottom.

If cleaning fails to significantly lower temperatures to prevent overheating shutdowns, then a repaste is the only effective solution short of gaming in a walk-in freezer...
