Well long story short i purchased a G55VW-DH71 from Newegg at the end of January, I used it for around a week and decided to install a few more games but was noticing odd slow downs in Battlefield 3. I ran several test using Cote Temp 1.0 RC 5 and Real Temp 3.70 using Prime95 to heat up the CPU. I also went through and checked the GPU temps using Furmark due to other post. In the end I had discovered that my i7 was running at around 90 degrees Celsius and throttling down to maintain temps where the GPU was topping only 85 or so. Well I ended up sending the laptop in for an RMA and requesting that the thermal paste be replaced. In the end I was very disappointed just to have them lose it during shipping and finally return it exactly a month later with a paper saying symptom: error message and saying they re-installed Windows 8 which of course hasn't corrected my problem at all and frustrates me because I could have done that myself and I was having no issues with windows at all. Well I re-installed both realtemp and coretemp and Prime95 immediately to double check hoping it was just written wrong on the paper and started receiving the same results and I'm currently in the process of trying to request a second RMA which hopefully goes alot smoother then before but I am curious if anyone else is having or has had issues with the CPU overheating as I can't seem to find any mention of anything but the GPU overheating on the forums here.

I don't find 90 C for a Prime95 test in a 25 C ambient temperature to be that unusual. See http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?29810-G75VX-Very-high-CPU-temperature and http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?12917-G74Sx-cpu-temperatures, and http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?20632-G55V-CPU-amp-GPU-Temperature-Benchmark.
