I just received my G75VX-RH71 with Windows 8. I have read a lot about the Asus Updating utility , and that it needs to be uninstalled as it causes problems. What else needs to go?
I am on bios 218, should I update to 223?
The G75 has the GTX670M and I found a great temp widget, but I still need one for the CPU, any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!

hi @Rick034197,

1. ASUS liveupdate can stay if you only use it to report about the latest updates available to you, BUT NOT install them automatically;
2. if everything works for you with the current bios, then you do not need to upgrade your bios;
3. personally am not a fan of gadgets; i think for generic purposes stuff at addgadgets.com (http://addgadgets.com/) could help.

Thanks for the fast reply!!
One thing I just noticed was, when I start up my pc the backlight does not come on when at the start up screen but one I enter my password lights come on. I am sure it has something to do with the Asus Instant On program.
Love the laptop coming from a G73, performance seems to be close to the G73 for some reason but I am confident that after getting everything set the way I want it, it will surpass the G73!

i have a g55; the backlight turns on during POST but it's turned off after that up until i key in my password. i think that's the default behavior.

there are a number of technical differences (referring to the respective tech specs) between a g73 and g75. probably for common usage there is not much difference :)

if you don't need app, you can uninstall it, when you want to install again, you can download from asus support site.
