Pro looks nice. I'll pass on the normal 840's.

bignazpwns,

Any tricks or issues to watch for when installing this ssd? I have 1 in the mail. Is there additional hardware I'll need to drop a 256gb 840 Pro in my G75VW (BBK5)? Not well informed YET as installation requirements, but I'm reading - and like the numbers.

If you plan on taking out the spindle drive and replacing it with the SSD you shouldn't need anything else. If you are looking to add it into a second hard drive bay you may have to get the HDD caddy or use some tape/doublstick to secure the drive in the laptop.

Run and use the Samsung Magician software that's on the CD.

It contains a number of useful optimization tools

the 840 I plan to use as primary , original 5400rpm 1T will be storage. I'm pretty sure the empty caddy is in place from mfg

I received this offer in my email as well. Newegg always has great deals. That is a pretty good price, but when I looked for a SSD, I wanted 500 mbps+ read, and 500 mbps+ write. I figured if I am gonna buy one, I want a good one! I just ordered a 240gb Mushkin Atlas DX mSATA SSD that is out for delivery today! :) Cost me $209.00, but was $40.00 off so I guess it is not all that bad. Can't wait for that. I am gonna break this thing down tonight and install it! As far as setting up your 840, not sure yet myself. lol. I have no Windows disc, so clean install out for me. I downloaded EaseUS Todo Backup (15 day free trial) and it offers a nice cloning option that allows you to clone a single partition, and optimizes for SSD. So that is what I am going to try out.

I just did exactly this. Works perfectly after using Samsung Data Migration, Samsung SSD Magician, and a few manual tweaks http://thessdreview.com/ssd-guides/optimization-guides/the-ssd-optimization-guide-2/.
