Anybody installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology on G75VX for Windows 7 ? Do you think it would make difference on performance ? and whats the best driver version for it? I didnt want to try because I read it somewhere once you installed theres no way to uninstall it since it wont show up in control panel > uninstall programs ...:(

I've read many articles that state the Intel RST driver will deliver better performance. Does anyone have a definitive answer on this?

How can you tell if it is installed on your computer or not? I just looked all over and don't see it.

you should ALWAYS install the IRST driver ragardless of RAID!

It has the SATA / AHCI controller driver. that's what determines the performance!

Danish is correct. IRST is good if u have HDD's but if you have an SSD in your system is absolutely necessary for good stable performance and safety of the drive ofcorse..

in your device manager, check if your ide ata/atapi controllers has intel 7 series chipset family sata ahci controller (this is the rst driver).

It does. I am pretty sure I found the most recent driver for it. Any way to confirm?

I found that the one from ASUS's site gives me the highest performance:

IRST 11.5.0.1207 (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin8/IRST/IRST_Intel_Win8_64_Z11501207.zip)

Tried to run it but came up with this: "Reading Hardware ID from INI file failed"

Any suggestions? I have 11.0.0.1032 installed

Edit: Yeh would be smart to extract it first before using the .exe worked once I done that cheers!

The latest 12.5 driver is much better performance wise on my G75VX I have 2 X M4-CT256 m4 ssd Drives in RAID 0 and I get 40% better performance on them using IRST service instead of the one provided on ASUS page I got em because I hate boundled laptops so I did clean install and got drivers manually those are best by far for this setup...205342053520536
