Hey everyone! New to the forum. My HP laptop from 2007 (the first 4GB RAM ones) got stolen last year and I need an upgrade. Saw some ROG laptops on ebay but looked into it and came across this site. Thinking of getting a G75VX in about a week from best buy because I do a lot of gaming, graphic design work, video editing, photoshop, FL Studios, etc. and I want to max the memory. I want to get the same kind that's in there already, don't like to mix and match (some goofy ocd thing lol). What is the brand I need to get for it? Thanks.

To have 32gb RAM you have to replace all 4 chips, and won't be reusing any of the chips it came with. 2 sets of these (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226323) work great. Stock timings are 11-11-11-28, but timings of 10-10-10-28 will also work.

Best if you wait for the G76 laptops.

2x4gb Hynix modules _ 1600mhz DDR3 Cas 11 Thats the ram you want, but this will only net you 16gb. (since the original installed are only 2x4gb modules)

if you want 32, you gotta replace all 4 modules, don't wait for g76 or whatever is next, you'll be waiting for quite a long time and at this moment its still uncertain whether there is a g76 or if Asus has any plans on releasing a new laptop anytime soon.

personally Im waiting for g76 that is if they do release it. I'd assume g76 will have 4th gen core, so maybe wait till june when 4th gen core come out and we will all have a better idea on whether or not it will be release.

Any RAM should work, provided that it is the right speed and matched set(s). That is more important than manufacturer, since RAM is made to standards, and it essentially all the same (at least for the lower-priced non OC'ing memory that runs at stock speeds). For 32 GB of RAM, you won't be able to run faster than 1600 MHz RAM, so that corsair RAM you linked to should be fine. Corsair has good customer service, I'm told, so if you have any problems, they should take care of you! Best of luck and let us know when you upgrade!

thanks - i came across some posts that said the corsair may not work - because of the timing? hopefully thats not the case!

somehow for corsair vengeance, there were user reports that the full swap did not work for them (for unknown reasons). this happened in older models. i have no clue if this works for g75vx.

just make sure you install /seat them properly; do an over-night memory tests with memtest86+ (at least let it run for 2 to 3 cycles without errors). good luck :)
