Hello,

I just bought this laptop Model: G75VX-BHI7N11
Which comes with Windows 8 :(

Since there are no disks, I wanted to make a backup install set, but did not find any option for it.
In the manual they are talking about F9, but that doesn't bring up the menu for that.. Just a Windows repair screen.
Is it possible to make a backup set at all? or do something with that hidden partition?

2. What is the max HDD size it can handle? 1,2,3 Tb drive ?
3. Are there drivers out there for Windows 7 ? since I did not find them on the website.

Thank you.

1. Try this: http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2012/12/using-windows-8s-hidden-backup-to-clone-and-recover-your-whole-pc/

2. Not sure

3. There is a sticky in this forum: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?29983-Clean-Windows-7-on-Asus-G75VX-(Win8-pre-installed)&country=&status=

Thanks.

1. Doesn't help me.. I want to make the original restore DVD(s) (like every other brand)
If I want format the whole HD and removing all the partitions, then I am SOL.
2. I'll have to see if there are any tech specs for it.
3. Found it after I had posted the message. Thanks though :)

hi @pka4916,

1. sorry but for a vx there is no such option to create original restore dvds;

2. due to the physical bay size constraint, as of the time of writing, the max size is 1tb;

3. :)

Thank you.
Glad I did not buy a 2Tb HD yet. guess I will get another 1Tb HD then.
Odd that there is a restriction on it.
Bay size doesn't change right ??

the 2tb hdd is too thick to fit. yes, the bay size are fixed.

why don't you get a ssd instead? it boosts the performance of your laptop significatly. you can use external hdd for storage.

oh ok haha!

here is the link about ssd at wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ssd) (to get some ideas about the advantages of ssd over hdd, please check out the 'Comparison of SSD with hard disk drives' section of that page)

@pka4916,

1. win8 has the option for user's to reset or refresh the pc, so the creation of restore dvd's is not an option by this time
2. in time, higher capacities of hdd's will be fit for the hdd bay so you can settle for 1tb or less at the mean time
3. google will be your bestfriend to search for drivers in my opinion
