So I'm buying the bestbuy edition, and according to the specs compared to the Asus version with steroscopic 3d capabilities, all I need to buy is the blue-ray/ DVD combo drive, and the 17.3" screen compatible with 3d.

Where could I buy this screen?

Would I need to update any drivers?

- If you can please help it will be much appreciated, and my friend Ryan said he will also buy one if I can do this because I referred him the laptop and he LOVES it

This (http://promos.asus.com/us/g74/index.htm) is what I'm talking about, the bestbuy version has almost the exact specs except for the 3D screen, RAM, and it has 1.5 TB.

And a 2GB 560M, which runs in 128bit mode and has lower performance.

Well, 3D cuts FPS performance in half, so you want as big of an engine as possible. Since the GPU is hardwired to the motherboard, you won't be able to change it.

From what i've been told by Nvidia customer support, you need a 120hz monitor with a DVI in port. The reason for this is that Nvidia 3d Vision uses a Dual link DVI cable to handle the stereoscopic 3d. The G74sx does not have a DVI port to make that connection happen properly. I would hold off on buying a 3d monitor until Nvidia comes out with drivers to support the G74SX using HDMI. (I was told this exact answer by Nvidia).

Hope this helped,

The G74SX has a HDMI 1.4 port that is 3D compliant. Whoever you spoke to is improperly informed, and is only reading from a script. NVIDIA was running Stereoscopic 3D at PAX East on a 72" HDTV 3D over HDMI quite nicely. I play in 3D off the G74SX on my 52" TV myself. You need a HDMI 1.3a or later unit for the bandwidth necessary, and the matching C2 cabling.
