G75VW-BHI7N07 from Best Buy - Memory configuration
Hi,

I am planning on buying http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+1...ref=25&loc=PGR (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+17.3%22+Laptop+-+8GB+Memory+-+1TB+Hard+Drive+-+Black/6769449.p?id=1218806579330&skuId=6769449&ci_src=5784816&ci_sku=6769449&ref=25&loc=PGR)

My intended use is for Finite Element Analysis (multi-threaded, huge matrix parsing). Currently I own a G73SW with 16Gb and it would be a nice improvement to be able to increase it`s memory to 32 Gb. As I believe this is not possible, I have decided to purchase BestBuy`s G75 low budget version.

My questions are:
1. Does the G75VW-BHI7N07 supports 32 Gb? (BestBuy`s website states a maximum of 16Gb)
2. What is the spec of the installed modules?
3. How many of these modules are easily accessible from the back cover?

Thank you guys for any help on the subject.

I have this same exact laptop
1. Yes it does support it but you need the right OS to have it and also you need to access the 2 slots under the keyboard which voids your warranty.
2. I got a screenshot of the Memory Section from CPU-Z - http://picpaste.com/RAM-gRCC2lU6.png
3. 2 are easily accessible.

1. for G75VW memory spec DDR3 1600 MHz SDRAM, 4 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion up to 32 GB SDRAM
2. you can use tool or open back cover to check it.
3. just remove one screw at big back cover.

Thanks guys.

BTW, do you know how the 8Gb of the BHI7N07 comes installed (factory default)?

Due to its pricing, I believe that it comes with 4 x 2Gb. Is this correct?

Thank you.

No. It comes with 2 sticks, of 4GB each. Located under the keyboard. The 2 empty slots are under the back cover (I have this same exact model). :)

On the specific model he is referring to, you can't check the RAM by taking the back cover off. All he will see is 2 empty RAM slots. ;)

That is great news!!!

Maybe I will settle for 24 Gb and avoid the pain of dismantling a brand new note...

Thank you guys!!!
