Hi,

I recently installed windows 8 on my G73sw that has Nvidia gtx 460 and it start overheating, idle temp 60's and mas 90's.
I had no problem when it was on windows 7, I think that is because it is not using the intel integrated graphics anymore and it is only using the nvidia one. so does anyone have any solution to this issue??
or does anyone know how to install the Intel hd graphics on windows 8??

Thanks,

i think you can change in NVIDIA control pannel if supported.

Integrated graphics on G73???? What are you talking about?

The G73SW doesn't use the intel graphics, to the extent of my knowledge. It is used solely on systems with Optimus, which didn't appear in the ROG line until much later. Overheating may indicate time to repaste the GPU or bad drivers. Likely the latter, since Windows 7 you say doesn't (didn't) have any problems.

One of the good things about the Sw is that the GPU does throttle down when idle. The G73jh was all or nothing, depending on how you set power. Have you checked to see that your GPU is throttling down when idle? My G73jh GPU idles at around 55c and the Sw idles around 45c. Another thing to try is to blow out the fan vents. Use some kind of stick to prevent the fans from turning then use compressed air to blow out.

@Zygomorphic; Optimus is required for the HD3000 graphics? Intel says that the Intel® Core™ i7 2630QM has HD3000. Does Asus have to support Nvidia Optimus for it to work? Do you know which G series notebook has Optimus?
