My laptop is only a few months old and I recently noticed that the touchpad does not work. The icon has the red X on it and it happens woth a mouse plugged in or not. I don't have the disable when mouse plugged in feature activated either. Resetting the computer the first time worked but hasn't since that first time. Anyone else have this problem? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

If you're still having problems, more ideas below to try.

1. Try getting into Windows Safe Mode to use the touchpad and let us know if you have any problems to get there for Win8 since it can be a little tricky.

2. Assuming you are referring to the red X in device manager, check the properties to see what Windows says about the status under the 'general' tab.
If you're referring to the touchpad icon on the taskbar, try the Fn+F9 keys to toggle the touchpad on and off.

3. If you aren't using the G75VX touchpad driver from the ASUS download site (http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=G75VX&p=3&s=388), give this one a try.

Hope this helps!
