Hey.

I was wondering if any of you know where I can buy a Intel 6200/6300 Wireless N x64 card to replace the built in atheros one with?

I've tried searching around on google, but not found anything yet.

Would greatly appreciate any help! :)

I got mine from provantage.com

Which one did you get? 6200 or 6300?
And is it easy to install in the machine?

Yeah, it's easy. Open the bottom, and undo one screw, and pop off the 2 antenna. It should angle up for easy removal. Reverse to install.

Thanks Chastity!

Since there are only 2 antenna cables in there, I'm going to go with the 6200 card.

I'd get the 6300, and have the option to upgrade with the third antenna down the road. Price difference between them is like $8 :) You can also get a 6250 and have a WiMAX option. ($45)

Damnit, I've tried ordering the 6300 card now, but neither provantage nor amazon will ship it to Norway. (Which is kind of crucial since I live there..)
Any ideas as to who might ship these internationally? I can't understand why they wouldn't..

Can't find any Norwegian retailers carrying these either.

should ship there

Thanks, but already found a Norwegian retailer which made shipping real cheap in contrast to the international shipping.
All in all it cost me 46$ for the 6300 card, and installation was cake. Enjoying it! :)

Did the wireless range get better for you neonfisk? or faster.
Im considering doing it to my G74sx :).

It did indeed! Both the speed and range were boosted enough to put a little smile on my face.
My disconnection issues are also in the past now. :)

I've also ordered a router that can actually push 450Mb/s wirelessly now, so I am excited to see how that turns out.

Hi. I'm facing some problems with my G74SX-3DE's Wifi connection. It was working great, but a couple days ago, it simply stoped. I can connect but, the connection changes from normal to limited (without internet access) every single minute. I have the original Wifi + Bluetooth adapter (azurewave, atheros). I've tried to update my driver with a new one that I found for a sony vaio (wich has the same atheros wifi) and the issues still there. The other wifi devices work great with my home connection. Any idea for solution? Anyway, I bought a new adapter but I didn't received it yet, but I need to use the internet soon. I bought the intel 6230, is it a good one? I choose it because I need the bluetooth too. Is it easy to install? Thx a lot.

If you open up the bottom panel, you'll see the existing WiFi on the lower left hand side with the 2 antenna leads. unscrew the one screw and give it a light nudge to have it lift up to 45 degrees. You can then remove it. Leads just pop off.

have you noticed a difference since switching to the intel 6200? what's the performance compared to a 5100?

My N 6230 has just arrived and it works very well, I notice a big increase of speed (comparing with the original wifi, when it was working). My question now is, how can I integrate the bluetothh adapter (that came on n 6230) with the wireless button (fn+f2),because with the old card, when I press those keys I could choose to enable or disable the wireless and/or the bluetooh. Does anyone knows how to do this? Thanks a lot!

If you're interested in replacing the Atheros Wifi Card, and have considered getting the Intel 6230 (w BlueTooth 3.0) - I advise you to get the Intel 6235 (BlueTooth 4.0) instead AND only requires 2 Antenna's - Same as we have in the G74 Series (I have the G74SX)

I ordered mine on E-Bay, for $26.95 (US)... with FREE Delivery (International):

The Item was entitled "Intel 6235 802.11n Half size mini PCI Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Combo Adapter 6235ANHMW"

I don't know if you can view a link on this forum but here it is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180946642701?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

If you are in the USA, delivery from China is about 4 Weeks, and it appears they will ship anywhere... so be patient (If you're in a hurry, get it from a seller near you, in the USA, that means an additional $10 on price, Plus Delivery charges)

I can't report on the speed since I haven't received it yet, but I am going to pair it with a Linksys WRT320N router (N600 = 300 Speed max per band 2.4/5Ghz).

Do I need to download drivers for the 6230/35 first before I install? Or are the wifi cards plug and play?

Just got a 6235 to install as my athoes just craped out last night.
