Good morning,

After several hours of fruitless searching, I am posting this plea for help although I bet it has been covered before. My new Samsung 840 is not showing up under my boot options although it is showing up under the SATA mode selection in the bios. Here's what I did:

made backup disks using the Asus utility
removed both HDD's and put the SSD in the left hand bay
reset bios (Version 207) to boot from DVD
booted with 1st DVD and proceeded through the process of "backup up" to my new SSD
rebooted and went immediately into bios to set boot from my new drive - it wasn't there! Only the DVD player shows up under options.

What do I do next?

Boot Tab --> HDD BBS Priorities ---> Set your new 840 as Primary and you should be good to go :)

Only the dvd is on the priorities list. The SSD is showing up in the advanced tab SATA configuration as port 1 so I know it's there but not on the boot tab.

It sounds like your trying to restore a hard drive to a SSD? I think Asus Back up and most software back up programs will not restore to dissimilar hardware. This will take specific software to accomplish.
It sounds also like your trying to boot a MBR disk to a UEIF SSD or Visa Versa.
Please read these threads (http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?28758-GUIDE-G55-G75-Upgrade-Notes&country=&status=) relating to updating from a hard drive to a SSD.

Macrium Reflect (http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx) is program that will allow you to copy your hard drive to your new SSD. Many in these forums have had success.

Best of course is to fresh install.

I used my "AI recovery disks" to recover to my SSD with no problem!
Here's a YouTube video on how to do.
After the install just remove all the "bloatware" you don't need!
