Hey everyone,

Can anyone tell me what is the best CPU I can install in my G75VW?
I have the i7 in it now but just wondering if there is something newer that I can get that would be
worth upgrading to? I am upgrading to the 670M from the 660M today.
Please let me know anyone.

Thanks

i7 3940XM is the big dog. It has a higher power requirement but I believe the rig will support it.

Have you checked the benchmarks for the different i7s? Notebookcheck.net breaks down the spread visually and numerically. To give you an idea, the 3610QM scored 17K in the Cinebench R10 benchmark. The 3940XM grabbed 20.5K using the same measure. The 3610 costs about $300 whereas the 3940 runs three times that, but you don't see performance tripling. Perfect example is the G75 I just bought. Sure, the G750 is out with the Haswell processors but I don't see the cost reflected in the performance gain. The 4700MQ is about 7% faster than the 3630 and costs $150 more. Will I need or see that difference? I doubt it. I think you'd do better looking into a Msata raid 0 array or Corsair RAM. Those are gains that will immediately show in whatever you do day to day. Just a friendly bit of advice.

ASUS will not recommend you change any without HDD and DIMM, it will viod warranty and we are not sure it is no poblem.

Thank you very much for that info:)
That's a great comparison!
Yea I have been super happy with my G75VW, I just put in the 670M from using the 660M and its awesome.
Was just trying to get what I could out of this for another year or so.
I do have the Samsung SSD 128 and using the 1tb HHD for other bs and just that made a world of difference.
I will probably add some RAM just to do it even though I really don't need it.
I need get more educated with the Processors that are out lol and thanks for helping me out.

Hey, if you look at the 3DMark scores, 3630qm actually scores somewhat higher than the 3840qm. http://www.3dmark.com/compare/is/434624/is/532553 The first score is actually my laptop score. :p

EDIT: My bad, it actually doesn't. It's just that the other score has a really bad graphics score. :p
