Here is a link (http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?28758-GUIDE-G55-G75-Upgrade-Notes&country=&status=) to some guides and notes on how to do it. If you still have the recovery partition you could just restore it to factory delivery condition to sell it?

i think you can download win 8 driver and utility from asus support site.

Only issue is that Asus forgot about us and hasn't/won't release a USB3.0 driver for the G55VW. Those of us running W8 on the G55 series are using a hacked/unsigned driver in order to get 3.0 speeds from the USB ports.

no @Dan-in-TX, it's not ASUS, but Intel and Microsoft (w8 only).

Umm my G55VW has Windows 8 and my usb 3.0 is working perfectly with the standard W8 drivers. Matter of fact, I just finished a clean install of Windows 8 because I had some other issues that required a reinstall and usb 3.0 is working like a charm. I have a couple usb 3.0 storage devices that would be seriously limited in speed if I didn't get full usb 3.0 speeds, but my usb 3.0 to sata bridge with a SSD on it is giving me >200Mb/s transfers and that's about 10x what it does on usb 2.0 ports.

Intel/Asus haven't released any usb 3.0 drivers because W8 already have the necessary files included. If you have to use hacked drivers to get it working, maybe the problem is caused by something else?
