Hey guys,

I recently bought a g46vw and a Mushkin Atlas 240gb msata SSD. The laptop was working well for a couple days (it was used so I had to test it) so I decided to put in the msata SSD.

I put it in successfully, but then when I tried to boot, the computer was asking me for the HDD password or the master password for the computer. I never had a master password set up on the computer. So I take the msata SSD out, and sure enough, the computer boots fine. I checked the bios, and confirmed that there is no HDD or master password set up.

Any idea what this could be? The previous owner of the SSD says there is no password on it. I'm gonna try it again today after work, and if it doesn't work I'm going to ask the seller for a refund for the SSD. Just want to know if anyone had any ideas about this.

Thanks.

i never meet this problem, i think your HDD is second hand, best way to refund.

You can try ATA secure erase to try and wipe the drive including any previous security settings:
