View Full Version : New G750XJ cannot activate windows

Hi all,

First off, my apologies if this has been answered in another thread, or is in the wrong section.

I Just purchased a brand new g750jx today (was still factory sealed).

Physically everything is working fine, but when I went to personalize some aspects of widows it prompted me to activate windows. When I click on the activate it states:

"The Product key didn't work. Try a different one or buy a new one"

I looked a bit deeper and got an error code of 0xC004C003 which looks like my key has been blocked.

I don't even know what the windows key is, I couldn't locate it in the manual, the box, the laptop, and I even looked under the battery compartment.

If any one could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Try calling Microsoft - you may be able to resolve the issue on the phone.

Yeah, will give them a call and see.

I tried ASUS on the phone first, and they told me to try MS.

Just curious, won't they most likely ask me for my Windows Activation code? Cause i'm unable to locate it, and ASUS phone support just said that MS should be able to work around it.

You can view product ID is System in Control Panel. They will tell you where to go for it.

yeah from windows system dialog we can only get to see the last five characters of the key.

if you wanna find out about the full key, you can try Belarc Advisor (http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html), produkey (http://nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html), or keyfinder (http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/).

Microsoft didn't really offer much help. They just said to get the product replaced if it's under warranty.

Going to have to call the shop i purchased it from and if they can't help, don't know what to do.

You bought a laptop with Windows, and there is no valid Windows license. They have to fix that, simple as that.

this problem occurred because the activation count for that oem key has been reached. by right asus support should offer you help on this one. if not, you might wanna consider return the product for a new, activated one.

Yea, that happened to my G750JW. I decided not to go to asus support, because i didn't want to deal with them, and installed Windows 7.
