I have a G55VW that came pre-installed with win8, so there is no AI recovery tool.

So, if I were to replace my hdd with an ssd, what would you recommend to do to reinstall windows and my drivers?

Win8 has a utility to create a disk image, but many have said that it doesn't work on a smaller drive than the one whose image you have. I have 500gb hdd right now and want to put that in a caddy in my optical drive bay and use an ssd to boot/run apps from. I am set on a 256gb SSD, so I dunno if the disk image will be a viable option.

I haven't even looked around asus' site very much, so I dunno if there is a webpage with the drivers necessary for my device or not.

I know this is a pretty basic question, but I am a man who is used to having a recovery dvd and I am too lazy to go beyond a cursory google search.

Any help is appreciated ^^

guess I could use like clonezilla as a last resort to clone the drive.

You can download the drivers needed from Asus support/Download for your model, also you can download Asus BackTracker which will create a DVD or USB recovery media. Several here have installed the backtracker created recovery to SSD from HD successfully.
