View Full Version : G74SX for music production + firewire query

hi i recently got the G74SX, and am very happy with it.:D

Aside from gaming, i will also be using it for a lot of music production, recording, mixing and mastering audio. Any suggestions on how i might be able to get the most out of the G74SX? i'm primarily running Cubase 5.1, Ableton 8 and Waves plug-ins.

Also, any chance that the G74SX can get fit with firewire? i'm highly doubting it though but just in case somebody knows how, it would really help.:D

look into the RME UFX as an interface. then get it modded by Black Lion. You are looking at roughly $2500. But if you have Waves then you can afford the $2500. the UFX has both USB and Firewire

Only if you can find a USB 3.0 > FireWire converter

I've got a similar situation; I want to use my G74SX for music production. I'm currently trying to decide between Cubase-Sonar-Ableton Live. I had pretty much decided on the Focusrite Liquid 56 as an interface, but it only outputs firewire. Have you had any luck figuring out adding firewire to the G74?

Im so thrilled to have found other music producers on here! Its so hard to find peoples experience with PC notebooks who are using them for music production.

I'm looking to get a g55 or g75 myself and am wondering how the USB 2.0 interfaces work with the Asus gaming notebooks that you have? I looked into the RME but due to the price Im leaning more toward the presonus 44VSL but am in desperate need of info from people who have actually used a usb interface with an asus notebook. Any info would be so greatly appreciated thanks.
