I have that very same laptop and its pretty good but, if you can build a pc then build it, waaaay better than buying a gaming laptop.

I have bought 2 ASUS computer (eee 1005 and g750jw) and have had to RMA each one twice.

Even then, both products work poorly (flickering screens/heat/sound/crashing etc).

RMA was a nightmare 700+ minutes logged on the phone and email. 6 total days missed work because of shipping mix-ups.

I also owned a Sager. That was beast. Never a single problem, overclocked well, and lasted till the day my little sister tore the screen clean off. Ha. I bet it still works if I hooked up a monitor to its DVI port.

My family has owned Dell/HP and they are ok but Acer cannot be beat for the price. $450 buys an ULtrabook that can Run Metro: Last Light on Medium-Low setting smoothly. I am so impressed by my brother's Acer.

Bottom Line (TL;DR). Never buy ASUS. Terrible Products & Support.

Wow, and I heard they are some of the best. That's scary, and thank you for sharing that.

I didn't even buy the Best Buy Model. The full fledged g750JW with blue-ray drive and all.

Still sucks.

Wow. So with my store credit to bestbuy, what should I get? All the research I have done has led me to the two ROGs at bestbuy... and if those are bad, then theres nothing I can get lol. Any help?

I wouldn't be afraid of getting a G750JW from Best Buy, the one thing no one has mentioned is Best Buy has the best Return & Exchange Policy, any store in the US as long as you have a receipt and the original packaging.

If you find something wrong then take it back - sooner or later they will get it right. Enjoy it, the G750's are great.

True, they took care of my old laptop for some little issue I was having and after trying to fix it they just refunded it, so now I'm probably gonna end up with something a lot better than what I had.
It's just scary what I hear with the screens flickering and all...

Absolutely.

If your worried about quality issues, ask to open and test the unit while your still in the store.

Check for physical defects and screen issues.

If the unit pasts that, run a few benchmarks when you take the unit home.

Not every Best Buy unit is a dud.

I don't know anything about benchmarks, how can I do that?

I don't know anything about benchmarks, how can I do that?

One of the GPU stability benchmarks that we use on our laptops is : http://unigine.com/products/valley/

Let the benchmark run for a few hours and take note of the system temperatures, performance and any visible artifacting. (Green corruption, strange textures, black lines, fuzzy white dots)

Okay, I'll do that if I end up getting it

Don't be afraid of buying a laptop from bb, especially a G750. Now regarding the screen issues, what I've seen in these two weeks is that the horizontal lines on the screen are there because of the drivers and not the screen itself. If there is flickering, then ofc return it. You'll prolly find some imperfections regarding the build quality (mine came loose in a corner, though I fixed it by unscrewing and screwing back the screw which holds it)... At this price, you should be thankful enough. If you want to get an Alienware with 5000$ just because it is shiny and get the same performance, then go ahead. I recommend this laptop especially for it's cooling system. Oc'ed my GTX770m and never passed 75c. ( oh and don't listen to Intel Dude, he's pretty mad and sometimes rude )

EDIT: You should go for the JX version cause it will be more "time proof" than the JW (765m kinda sucks)

I have the best buy version and its pretty good :p, you should go for it... even tho if i was you i would choose other laptop bands lol(Or build a desktop), anyways if you really want a gaming laptop from asus buy better the JX Version(Clevo way cheaper and comes with a gtx 770 also upgradable).

Thanks for the opinions guys, I don't want to spend any more money than that, so I think the gtx 765 is fine enough for me and I won't mind playing on lower graphics in the future. I'm going to check it out on display again tomorrow and then if I decide, I'll buy it.

I swear you will be sorry.

So I checked out the display and I saw the flickering problem From when its put on from sleep. That prevented me from buying it and the guy even said he never saw a computer do that. So now I'm stuck. And I don't have a computer and probably won't for a long time if I can't find one.

Do you even read my comments? buy clevo/sager lmao, you will get for the same price of the g750jw that has a gtx 765 one with a gtx 770 wich is way more futureproof.

Of course lol, but I'm stuck with this store credit and its hard to get rid of or I will lose a lot
