Got a great deal and got very lucky and got the G750JW and saved 350 bucks... so is there anything I need to know and look out for? Stuff I should download or uninstall? Thanks :)
Also, I just unplugged it from battery and it's running much slower, how to I stop this from happening? And how can I prolong the life of the battery as well? Thanks
Edit: I only see it running at 0.77 ghz on battery, no faster...

Hi,
Check if you need to update BIOS or Drivers. There is an issue with Splendid utility for your machine ( our machine, i have same model). Bios 207 version should fix some Power4gear issues however will not increase your processor speed over .77 without being plugged in.
Apparently we all have same issue. Some of guys speculating that power of GPU drives that but im not sure.
Below you can find the post with all about it.

Wow so basically I'm screwed and can't even run the simplest game Runescape on battery power?

Now when you said that i am going to test something very quick. On the post i sent earlier some of the members were saying that the even on battery if the game or process require more power from processor or GPU these will increase otherwise wills stay on minimum. I just installed call of duty and will test in few minute and will let you know.

So i guess you cant play the games on battery mode. I just tried Call Of Duty and didnt work well. :-(

Wow, that's ridiculous though my old 2nd gen i7 with a gt 540 dell laptop could run runescape on battery power...

And how do you check if you need the update for the bios or download it?

Restart your computer, keep pressing esc key untill you enter in BIOS. The version should be at the firs page. You probably have 206. Then go to the asus support and driver page fir your model and check avaliable BIOS.
Have you ever flash the BIOS before? Be careful with this and let me know if you need help.

Wow so basically I'm screwed and can't even run the simplest game Runescape on battery power?

I just ran Java RuneScape on max detail fine, full screen. HTML5 Beta was another matter, very very slow, unusable and once power is back in BOOM and off it goes at 3.2Ghz. A bit annoying, and I don't see why it does it on the high performance setting, surely that should be for battery saver?

I play it on the downloadable version and that runs extremely laggy on battery power, and extremely good plugged in. Beta is laggy no matter what haha, for me at least. I can't run anything well though even on high performance and battery power. Should I exchange it? Does anyone know if the G75VX does this too?

I would have thought they all do it, I'd imagine (don't take this for fact as I can't say for sure) that to power the bits in such a high end performer (laptop wise) it takes a fair bit of juice, that possibly the battery can't fully provide without murdering the battery, so they clock it down and figure most people will run off battery when doing light applications such as MS Office?

Doesn't bother me too much, handy to know as I did use my previous laptop on battery to cut down on some of the masses of heat it produced when gaming, but on this it's not an issue, it has yet to even get mildly warm...

Well it would be nice to be able to play even that game (can be run on like 5 year old laptops) on battery power. I notice even just navigating around the computer is slower, which I wouldn't expect out of this laptop with such power

Hmm, also noticed it only runs at 0.675V as well.

Where do you see that? And how much is it supposed to run at?

Saw it when I had a pop on CPU Z, on the left is when the computer is on battery, the right is when it's got juice coming from the power supply.

Ah I see, strange. I'm going to see if the displays in stores do this as well and also see if the older model does it too, and if that can be changed in the settings unlike this one.

I'd imagine there is a way around it, just I'm clueless when it comes to things like this I'm afraid.

WEll most say it can be changed in the settings, however those settings after i set the speed to go at max still changed nothing.

Ditto on that front, still hit 800Mhz max >_> maybe a call through to ASUS may help? Might do that myself in the morning.

Already have, they told me to exchange it. I thought that that might solve it, but now checking out the display in the store I realized they all do this. However the G75VX (the previous model) doesn't do this, so I might exchange it for the old model. I don't know if this is something that can be updated, and that's what I need to be figured out.

Hmm, after thinking on it I'm tempted to return myself, it's not great for even doing work on running that slowly, and seems to be an issue with everyone's units.

Sent in a technical support request, found it won't even open MS Word very well without a freeze, so it's kind of unfit for purpose if honest.
