Hey guys, I just bought a G75VX, but the store ended up giving me a G750JW! So I took it but as I unplug it from the wall the processor drops to .77ghz and stays that way, won't go any higher, making it impossible to play very low demanding games even on battery. I don't want to have to have it in the wall 24/7 while I"m using it, so I was wondreing if I go back and get the G75VX, would that have the same issue? Or should I try exchanging for another G750JW?

It has the same "issue"

You can set the power setting so the processor will run faster in battery mode

I changed the power settings on this, but it didn't change a thing. Still running at .77ghz
Edit: unless I did it wrong? Can you explain it for me?

Did you change the max and minimum CPU states?

I set it from processor power management I set to 100 percent for minimum on battery.. max is 100 too. still at .77ghz

Go ask the G750 forums.
They might have a better answer.
These laptops sucks without the power brick.
They can't handle even the most minuscule GPU dependant games.

Weird that you can't make it go at higher clocks.
Isn't haswell about better power usage? X)

I set my CPU to the lowest when I'm running word and watching videos
Actually last for about 4 hours via HDMI cable :)

I did, and I figured I'd ask here as I might exchange the newer for the older if it didn't have this issue and unlike mine, was able to be changed in the settings. Indeed it is weird that I can't make it go faster

So, it seems as if all the G750JWs are stuck at .77ghz on battery power. I checked out the G75VX they had in the store, it ran at a nice speed on battery, not stuck at the slowest speed, going from 1.3 to 2.8 ghz

my G75vx is works normally ! in order of my power option .

i think it should be software problem and is not a H/W problem .

did you searched on win8 forums ?

G serious must be plug adapter, it will be high performace, if only battery, it only half performance.

The answer is, Yes!
But it's not what most people think it is!
With the release of the "New Windows 8 OS" there also came a new Power Management Framework.
This new framework is designed for longer battery life, and not performance.
For best performance (specifically in gaming) you need to be plugged in to the power adapter!

Check this out for more details on the new > Power Management Framework (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh406637(v=vs.85).aspx) (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh406637(v=vs.85).aspx)

So if I bought a G75VX and updated windows, it as well would be stuck at .77ghz?
And pitcher, on battery, it isn't even half performance, its like a fifth

All G75VX's came with per-installed Windows 8.
But I would think there should be a "work around" for this issue!
(Guess need to 'Google" this issue)
Some kind of "REGEDIT" so you can install the old power management framework.

Lets just face it Windows 8 is crap IMHO, the OS was designed basically for "mobile devices".
(I had W8 on my system for a week, then reverted back)
But anyways, the 'G series" does perform better on power adapter, Asus engineers designed it that way!

Microsoft screwed up BIG time with W8, should have made a strictly desktop version!
Why do you think Microsoft is back peddling with a so called fix with W8.1?

Haha, personally I like it, it seems faster to me. But I have googled it and I've been checking the forums, so far no fix for this. Of course it performs better, but I shouldn't notice that much of a difference while running on battery. It's a BIG difference, and settings change nothing.

Well maybe Win 8.1 will have better power handling options.
One could only hope!

I'm going to buy the G75VX model tomorrow and update it, that way we'll see if its the laptop or if its windows. THen I'll know which one to keep
