Hi everyone! Been meaning to post for a while but, I have a G75 notebook which I bought last September. Its been a great laptop so far, runs all my games and software perfectly. My only problem is when I plug in my external hard drive it tends to freeze up with every other file or video I click on. My external hard drive runs smooth on my old 7 year old tower, so just want I was wondering if this was a problem with the drivers or something else. My external hard drive is a Toshiba portable 1gb hard drive with 3.0 USB.

Uninstall they Asus Charger Plus program from Control Panel :program/Features.
If you have a G75 on Win 7 download the latest USB 3.0 driver from the Intel download site
If you have a G75 on Win 8 just delete the USB 3.0 from device manager
Reboot after uninstall
Win 8 usb 3.0 driver is native Window driver should automatically reinstalled
Win 7 install the latest Intel USB 3.0 Driver
Should solve your problem reinstall Asus Charger Plus if you need or want it. if you reinstall it every now and then your going to have to run this procedure.

Just finished uninstalling Asus Charger Plus program and downloaded Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver. Not sure if that was the right one, googled "intel 3.0 USB drivers". Also tried using the left USB ports on the other side, seems to be running a little faster but still freezes. I am using windows 7.

Well my G75VW workes flawlessly on the 235 driver and 251 driver that just came out in March. I understood that a Intel USB 3.0 driver was released at the end of 2012 or Jan 2013 that had problems for some people I didn't load it so I don't know.

ahh if you're on Windows 7, then only this driver gives you good speeds:

Intel USB 3.0 Driver (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin8/USB3.0/USB3_Intel_Win7_VER105235.zip)

Uninstall the current driver then restart

then install the drive I linked above then restart

then come back here and tell us the results

good luck d00d

Thank you! I did everything you said and installed those drivers, my hard drive runs smooth now. Really appreciate the help from everyone. :)
