These laptops seem to be the same except one is named DB71 and one is named TB71, but one is 300$ cheaper. Is there a reason for this? Does the name matter? Thanks

The only difference seems to be the storage. TB71 comes with a 750gb 7200rpm hdd, and DB71 comes with a 1024gb 5400rpm hdd plus a 256gb ssd. It's really hard to say the 256gb ssd worth over 300 bucks. That's why I chose TB71. I also ordered a samsung 840 EVO 250gb ssd, and it only cost $164.

if you don't especially care for bluray you can get the cheaper one, then use the money you saved to get a better HDD+SSD combination (256 gb is enough, but for you could probably go for a 7200 rpm 1tb drive and a samsung 840 pro which is certainly going to be faster than any other stock SSD), then get a 10$ hdd enclosure and use the 750 gb drive externally.

actually it's the cheaper one that has the bluray, strangely.

it's pretty much a no-brainer then.

sometimes also even if the RAM is the same GB number they use smaller denominations to fill the slots. Example, 24gb could be 3 sticks of 8gb, 4 sticks of 6gb etc.
