I want 16GB of RAM but I am trying my best not to have to take it completely apart too do so. The previous owner had it re-pasted plus I upgraded the Bios to 213 and the did the Vbios fix. Due to my laziness I was thinking of getting Dual Channel 2x8GB RAM for a total of 16GB in two spots. Curious if this will work I am starving student on a average budget and this would be an expensive mistake if they don't work. I know 16GB is really overkill I just want it, and I am also planning on installing an SSD for the operating system at the same time. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I thought I would reply to this post instead of your other one about this and may change that title later too.

Anyway, you may already know that ASUS will not guarantee or recommend using 2 x 8Gb memory modules on the G73JH, but if you want to look into it more, there are earlier posts that you can search for as below.

If you're interested, here are the search results from searching 'G73Jh memory' (http://rog.asus.com/forum/search.php?searchid=2309575), but I didn't find anybody report success with 2 x 8Gb modules in the posts I checked although 8Gb modules may not have even been available or practical when many of those older posts were written.

Chastity mentioned in this thread Max memory G73JH (http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?2269-Max-memory-G73JH&highlight=G73jh+memory) that "if your system has an i5, then it's limited to 8GB. i7 systems can do 16GB" although 16Gb should be reached with 4 x 4Gb modules.

Just more info at this thread Stock G73JH-X3 CPU and Memory Upgrade Advice (http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?29635-Stock-G73JH-X3-CPU-and-Memory-Upgrade-Advice&highlight=G73jh+memory)

A post that 8Gb modules aren't supported at this thread ASUS G73JH and 8GB Memory Modules (http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?17789-ASUS-G73JH-and-8GB-Memory-Modules&highlight=g73jh+memory)

If you haven't been to Crucial's website here (http://www.crucial.com/), their 'Memory Advisor' on the home page (it is a scrolling screen and can be a little hard to catch) lists memory they say that will work for the G73JH and doesn't list any 8Gb modules.

Well, unfortunately, there probably just aren't many people trying this on the G73JH right now, so if you decide to go through with it, you probably want to be prepared for the possibility that it will not work out.
