Hey Chris, for wPrime 1024 did you go to the advanced settings and set 6 cores? I have no idea how your CPU works but it seems to me that this score is way too high. By default uses only 1.

Keep testing. I think this one don't need so tight timmings for RAM. Higher clocks of CPU maybe gives better results. First time I run this was in May Madness. Then, I had no idea about RAM (doesn't mean I know now, but I can tweak a few things). Super Pi, yes, I 'll try to find the tightest ones no matter the mem feequency.

ok .. I am quickly falling even deeper into the cavernous depth of my twisted sanity .. compulsive re-booting/tweaking disorder only to find that upon each re-boot my beloved V decides upon a slightly different outcome on the cpu clock.
Which is to be expected on the fiddl'n of settings and such .. but even on vanilla re-boot.

Tell me do you have The Stilts application enabled?

chrsplmr
10-06-2013, 06:10 PM
I thought we discussed that Stilt's fix was a BullDozer only thing .. not Phenom 1100T. Works for both ?
I think I better sell a kidney or something .. if I remember right, I shouldnt be using my everyday HD .. and
that is 1TB with 4 250mb partitions .. [I know, not wise, but there is 20yrs+ of files, pics, art ... etc.] but I think
I grasp the concept ..

[btw. I had the editor issues continue .. as Im sure we all do. Edit is out of the question-sometimes.]

below is the broken image from above:hopefully.

Chris, remove that HD from your system or make backup somewhere else. Benching and BSODing is not good for a 20+ years work mate.

I thought we discussed that Stilt's fix was a BullDozer only thing ..

Here ya go Chris, Stilts added a tweak for Zambezi too ;)

After the let-down on Zambezi I felt that something had to be done for Zambezi too.
While it does not result as massive boost as the original fix does it still gives something:

SuperPI 1M: > 1 second improvement
SuperPI 8M: > 10 second improvement
SuperPI 32M: > 35 second improvement

It is called as "Zambezi Stack Special (PD)".
Note: There might also be some performance specialbunnyation in some applications when enabled (Zambezi vs. Vishera effect).

Zambezi is significantly faster than Vishera in SuperPI by default so the difference between a "fixed" Vishera and a tuned Zambezi won't be that massive after the "Zambezi Stack Special" configuration.

Stilts = Veshera, Zambezi and BullDozer ..................................................>> umm .. Phenom ???

I'll give it a shot .. gotta do this and that first .. load a drive for one.

I have seen it said that some benches are better in Win7, some Win8. Much discussion has gone
on about the two OS's. Any opinions on which is best overAll. Or is it .. a some this/some that thing ?
Ideally one of each I'm guessing .. if that were available.???

... sorry for the confusion Chris.

Chris, I don't think that it exist a single best OS for everything... however, based on my experience, XP is better for wPrime and SuperPi and Win7 is better for the RRB - but I never tried Win8... I saw some people saying that Win8 is sometimes better for graphics benchmarks though...

chrsplmr
10-09-2013, 02:23 AM

where .. humbly we should be. In my defense, not an excuse, I was trying to get the same cpu clock and re read
the Follies and saw that it has to be the same cpu .. not the same clock .. ok enough groveling .. hahhahha
here it is .. and clawing my way .. i shaved a click or two off of WP as well.
On a sad note, and Thank You to Daemon Cantor my drive has bit the dust, but we got it up one more time after

OK .. So I'm pretty sure this was the last boot this hd will ever see. [She makes it to 64% in the 2nd level of chkdsk and hangs,
repeatedly or if you boot right after log on she freezes, hangs in safe modes and repair from dvd, endlessly
.. something bad deep inside her plates I fear.]
A freak'n miracle that I finally got it to boot again last night. [DC was trying to get me to accept it, but I could not,
One more try. I promised on the last if she didn't this time ... hahhaa .. she is alive...]
She slept quietly through the night and we spent a few last hours together this morning. With great sadness the time
has come to unplug her and let her give up the ghost. [as long as I can recover her secrets and treasures ... omy.]

So if all goes well with the transplant we should be back later today, much later. c.

Thanks brother Viz. I was Warned. I knew I had an issue with it not passing the 64% chkdsk since RB.
I pushed it. ~sigh~

But I'm back. Relatively painless .. except for that droning windows activation on the phone thing.
Now as long as the old drive holds out enough to get the data off it .. I am a smiling ROG.
She served me well brother .. she was a good drive and gave great spin.

We are at peace with it. Let the game play on. lol.
[This is Soooo addicting, can't wait to try that wazzat thing.] .c.

Hi Abirli Welcome to ROG

Our team is for a little friendly competition the local ROG guru's put on for us. If you read the 2013 Autumn folly
thread you can see what I mean. The comp is open to all and am sure if you find a friend you need one AMD guy and one Intel guy and some catching up to do. I don't think the comp is closed but that's not my call.

Chris now get your partner to push his system as hard as possible for a high score, and then provide the difference to make up the target. Getting the number (target) is the easy part the lowest combined CPU frequency is the actual task.

I had over 120 runs at this .. we would miss by .01 one side or the other .. I was under the

Best so far 9.60 @ 4.7 GHz this TridenX memory is very touchy. I think I will pull my Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9R Vengeance and see if I have better luck with that.

lol, I follow a special diet for sleep, (like Chris). Because my day is always heavy and busy with work and family, the only time I have for myself is only after midnight. After good training the last couple of years I sleep a couple of hours whenever find time. I don't even remember when was the last time for 8 hours straight sleep :) So, this way I live more and when I see roots from the trees around me, then I will enjoy sleep ;)

wasted all my time last night fixing my os :( Is there a setting in my bios preventing me from over volting my ram? (1.920v is my max)

Question: this TribentX mem is very touchy with the timings @ 2400. The fastest i can run it so far is 2783 mhz factory timings. If i drop it to cl 9 11 10 25 main timings I am at 2400 no faster. i can tighten the second and third timings a bit. If I drop it to let say 2200 I can tighten a bit more but no increase in score. is there a setting to increase the voltage on the IMC or is that a bad idea. So finally my question will lower freq and tighter timings yield higher scores vers. factory timings and higher frequencies.

I am having a brain fart... ganji pass that dobi over here lol

HiVizMan
10-21-2013, 09:10 AM
Enable extreme tweaking for the voltage

The main gains at very high frequency for the first 4 latency are achieved via cooling and not voltage alone. Cooling both the CPU to effect better IMC and on the ram to offset the high temps from the voltage that is needed.

Nice one. We may not get there first .. be 'we' will be there.

I did something I can't figure how to undo .. The only place I could think it came from was the
'toolbox' thingy. [but I don't know] maybe shouldn'ta stuck my fingers in a box I was not familiar with.
RB keeps erroring out .. twice it froze and in the output box is said [paraphrasing-hindsight is 20/20
coulda took a cell phone pic. drat.] "pnrs(not sure of the letters to left) tweak applied-this will make results invalid"
"pnrs treak should be applied if you are tuning pnrs" ---
I set the settings to a known working config and it still errors -- without that warning -- on second test.
Ideas ? Suggestions ?? What did I do ?? How do I undo it ?? WTFat ?? hahhaha
I brought it out of diagnostic mode thinking it might go back to the way it was prior to playing with that,
and ran RB at defaults -- 3.3 and 1600 -- same result.... btw.c.

nikosa43
10-24-2013, 05:45 AM
Chris, I have no idea what this tweak do. To tell the truth I haven't use it. One thing you can try is to clean up your windows Temp folder and the one for User (Appdata-->Local-->Temp), to delete any corrupted RB data left overs. Then you get a brand new RB folder straight from the zipped file and give it a run. If this tweak hasn't altered something, permanently in the OS, it will work fine.

nikosa43
10-24-2013, 05:54 AM
Very good Mkeys. First time in my life I payed so much attention to that three decimals :D

meankeys
10-24-2013, 09:13 AM
I hear ya nik.

I too am watching that decimal place. I played with the tool box tweak. I did not notice any improvement. I think it may be more for AMD users. dont know Viz?

I found that Viz mans tip on covering the spi window helped more than anything I tried. I used the task managers window instead of a text doc window.

This 47 cap is like tuff to score anything. My cpu is like a chained up dog trying to get loose. lol

HiVizMan
10-24-2013, 09:22 AM
That is true it is tough, but once you let the chain free just think how you can improve all 2D benchmarks with what you have gained here.

The tool box if used correctly is a huge assist. It is for Intel big time. You need to spend some time working things out. Not now if you are pressed for time but later on. The real gains in this steep learning curve only happen 2 to 3 months down the line when what has been shared here actually sinks in and starts making sense.

meankeys
10-24-2013, 01:37 PM
Viz your right I did not give it very much time when I played with it. If you say Intel will benefit from its tweaks I will certainly take a second look.
I would like to know what windows tweaks it is applying. is there a readme file available that explains what it does? Trust me when I say I have learned allot. Understanding it all is and other story.

Thanks guy's

Yes tons of fun. Tonight I hit the RB trail. RealBench is giving me a run for the money with the cooling restriction.

Thanks Henk

Yes I kept a close eye on that. You made me push hard. I wasted the last two nights trying to get my RB scores up. Seemed like no matter what I tried I could not get a higher score than my first score of 780 even un-capped. I just dont understand it. I have 2 3770K's and both suck compared to allot of other CPU's that I have seen post scores higher with lower clocks. All in all I had a great time and met allot of new friends also i learned more about my rig this past 30 days then i did in the past yr. I want to thank Viz and Chino for all there time and efforts they put in to this competition and congrats to all whom participated. We are all winners here in my book :) 29031 29032

You are absolutely right! The gain is a lot of knowledge for all that entered and joined !! To be honest ... Realbench is a difficult one for me too!! I can't get beyond my top score.. Like you also on higher clocks ... Most of the time it won't even finish. Have to get into that bench in depth to see what is going wrong !

I would like to take this opportunity to Thank each and every one that participated or added in anyway
to the Autumn Follies. This has been quite a ride. I have learned just enough to realize I have barely scratched
the surface of this wonderful world of 'benching'.
Special Thanks to my TeamMate MeanKeys who carried this humble AMD'r to the finish line and of course
HiVizMan whose love for ROG and this 'Sport' dares us to attempt these heights.
I take away something from the efforts of each of the Teams, you lessons have not fallen on deaf fingers.
Chino, Nodens and Myk ++. And of course Thank You to Asus and Richard for putting up with 'we' lot.

I offer in example, although an accompanying bench does not go with a little something something I learned ...
and why now I really need the addictions 'fix' called Rampage IV Black Edition ... hahhahaha
Until next time ... See you all in the Winter Palooza 2013.
