I checked the UEFI BIOS
but I found no option to change the cpu clock, is this locked?
any change to unlock?
I wanted to try to get 4.5GHz clock

Most of the prebuilt systems come with a locked BIOS. Try overclocking it using AI Suite.

hate to resurrect an old thread but it made better sense than starting a new one .... user has opened his PC and reseated the cooler as was worried about the high temps he was seeing. So with warranty gone anyway, is there any way to unlock / write over this BIOS ?

Hi
I have been struggling for weeks trying to change the cpu clock ratio on my G30AB, it cant be done in BIOS and AI suite is nearly useless but then I discovered an Intel utility that works called XTU, Xtreme Tuning Utility.

XTU lets you change things like the core ratios and core voltages then you can do a stress test to see the results.
There is plenty of feedback and plots to monitor performance, and it really did work.

Actually I was wanting to underclock / undervolt the cpu (i7 4770K) and that worked to keep the heat down abd reduce fan noise.

Try it out - worked like a charm for me.. there are some good how to videos on Youtube too...

Xtreme Tuning Utility is best bet I use it on my G30 AB
