I checked so far and no matter what I replace or check, my adapter tip gets burning hot. I came to the conclusion that the dc power jack needs to be repaired. I know this is a relatively expensive process (unless you can solder, which takes skill and I don't think I can do this without breaking my laptop even with a guide).
Anyone know any cheap DC power jack repairs for the Asus g74sx?

Right, my bad. I did do some research but I'm put off by the $250 buck repairs and what not. I do know that the actual repairs don't cost much but they can overcharge for labor since not a lot of people can solder power jacks. Was just wondering if anyone had any experiences with a cheap power jack repair service is all.

it might be a good idea to grab one of these (http://www.amazon.com/BiXPower-LC53-Right-Connector-Converter/dp/B004L74PGI) costs about 5 bucks. never had any problems with either the power supply or the connector. ever.

The pin on my power port broke off, did this fix that sort of issue or is a solid pin still needed?
