Okay guys it has been awhile since I have been on here. I am migrating my G75VW Win8 and Win7 over to SSD. I am having issues on which one I should go with. I am looking at Intel 530 and Samsung 840. I would like opinions from you guys.

I don't think you could go wrong with either, I would get the 840 Pro rather than the lesser 840 that 5 year warranty means something to me.

yeah both are fine ssd's, but if i have to choose between the two, i will get intel 530 for its longer warranty period. like @Clintlgm pointed out, samsung 840 pro is a much better option (and my personal preference hehe)

Go for the Samsung 840 EVO PRO

SSD of Samsung has special software 2 thats very ussefull updating SSD and tools to speed up you're pc.
I dont know if intel has that 2.

They say Samsung 840 EVO Has the best performance of all SSD's

If you take Samsung 840 SSD and try to transfer preinstalled version of windows you will fail. There is a thread about this somewhere here I saw how to do it with other software. I know this because I bought 840 and wasn't be able to transfer preinstalled version of windows with Samsung included transfer software.
I have 840 regular version not pro and love it, so Id suggest go with 840.

I would go with the Samsung 840 Pro, it's rated number one on FastestSSD.com (http://www.fastestssd.com/featured/ssd-rankings-the-fastest-solid-state-drives/)

Yea I think Samsung is using Ghost to clone to a new SSD, its not UEFI compliant. Macrium Reflect (http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx)its free and works.

Yes, there's a thread HERE (http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?39110-Can-t-select-my-SSD-as-a-boot-drive) on the Samsung Migration software problem with UEFI/GPT format!
Would be best to use Macrium Reflect

WOW Spydyr, those figures are amazing!!!

I'm getting mine tomorrow; I have bought the 750GB EVO, so I guess my figures won't be that good, but I'm sure my G75VW will never the less get a big kick anyway.

What I would like to know is what procedure did you use in the end to migrate all your Windows and programs to the SSD, so I do exactly the same...Hopefully

Best regards and enjoy your new beast..

Hi I'm stuck! Could you please help me out! I bought a hyper 3k ssd and would like to use it on my second slot. So I installed it and when I rebooted the computer and went to disk management it did not have my ssd in there. Is there something I'm missing?

Hi
I have bought a ASUS G75VW-AH71 and It works fine. Then I wanted to add an SSD drive (240GB Kingston V300). I tried many times and many methods to install Windows 8 on the SSD drive but It states that you cannot install it. every time there is some sort of errors.

Any idea, how can I move my windows to SDD?!!

I even use USB recovery of OS but I couldn't.

As this was my first rodeo with SSD's I just followed instructions on migrating the OS provided by Samsung. As my DVD drive works only when it wants to in windows 8 I downloaded the migration software from Samsung website. I have not had a problem with UEFI boot like others have had. Maybe I am just lucky. I think I am going to buy another for my Win 7 install tool.
