I got a G75VX and I was wondering if someone here can help me out on how to do a clean install. I've read couple of threads on this forum but they seem a bit complicated.

Could someone write a quick guide?

Thanks for providing that link. I've read almost everything and I know how to do all that. But where can I get the Windows 8.1 ISO file? my G75VX came with Windows 8 so I'm pretty sure I won't have to enter any keys, right?

You're windows 8 key is vialed for windows 8.1.
(windows 8.1 is just a big update so they didn’t split it up in a new OS with new keys.)

Yes try the method in this thread (http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?40101-FYI-Download-8.1-ISO-from-Microsoft-Store&country=&status=) there are also links to the eightforums where clean installing 8.1 is discussed toughly.

You won't be able to clean install using your win 8 key, there are generic keys that you use to install then after installing you activate using your win 8 key.

You should be able to upgrade to 8.1 from 8 in app store.
If its not there make sure to download all windows 8 updates and after visit app store.

so, those of you running 8.1 (I would be using pro x64) are you having any probs? using newest drivers? I have a clean win 8 install right now, with a Samsung 840 evo and using the 1tb drive as storage.

or should I just do the 8.1 update from the store since I have a clean install of 8

That's your choice, personally I chose to clean install. The updated drivers needed are available at Asus Support Download (http://support.asus.com/download/options.aspx?SLanguage=en&type=1) I haven't had any problems at all. My biggest issue was finding all the extensions that were opening App and redirecting them to open my desktop programs.

Official Windows 8.1 (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=271128) from Microsoft, you can create an ISO with this setup exe.
(Or you can make a bootable USB Drive)
you will need your valid license key handy when starting this procedure. (per Microsoft)
(Here's a little app that will reveal your Windows activation key ProduKey (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html), Just to be sure you have the right key)

(see screenshot below)

Choose Install by creating media and then click Next.

*Warning*
Don't format your hard drive before installing Windows. Your current version of Windows must be running when you begin installing Windows 8.1. (Also per Microsoft site)
