Hello I have a problem with my asus rog raidr,

It is a very nice product, very easy to install and works quite fast.
But I checked my sequential speed for read and writes on "CrystalDiskMark" and it doesn't go as high as it should go. I have the 240 gb version**, so normally it should be 830/ 810 MB/s sequential read/write speed but i barely reach 700 mb/sec for read speed. This is why I post this message. How can I make it go faster, must I change something in the Bios, or is the product defect...?

here's the specs of my pc:

*Motherboard Asus rampage IV extreme*
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4930K CPU @ 3.40GHz
Memory (RAM) 64.0 GB
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB
Primary hard disk 116GB Free (223GB Total) + 1Tb Velociraptor

I thank you in advance for your answer, have a nice day!

Which slot did you install the RAIDR into?

Thank you for moving the post I didn't know where to post, i realise yet my error.

I installed the RAIDR in the PCIE x8 slot on my asus rampage iv extreme board, a black slot, on the manual it is written for that slot: PCIE_X8_2B

this black slot that shown here:

Use one of the red slots. That slot is on the PCH.

Thank you for your answer Nodens. Is it a good solution knowing that I have my OS on the asus rog RAIDR and a lot of my programs.. will it change anything..? or can I try this solution

Changing the slot will not affect your data:)

Thanks a lot nodens, i will try this solution, i'll give you feedback directly after!

Ok, I changed it, I put it on the red slot just under it.. but unfortunately no drastic change in performance...

I wan to be like this disk :D :p

no but the write speed seems low on my rog.. I looked up for the read speeds , and other people seem to have the same for read speed but more for the write speed...

Every SSD manufacture uses Atto which uses other files then for example AS SSD Benchmakr which is way better to see the real performance of an ssd.

Atto is good to get high benchmark but for nothing else. It not realistic for daily use. no wonder manufactures uses the read/write speed from that program to show the theoretical maximum.

Use AS SSD Benchmark. You wont get the advertised 800 but sometihng about 700 if i remember right which is good.
and just for fun bench it with atto. then you should get about 800 to get sure that the disk isnt hold back by something

Thank you a lot for you answer DragonClaVV, it is exactly what you said. I get up to 700 with AS SSD and up to 800 with Atto. I feel now reassured that my ssd is working correctly, so this post can be considered as "resolved " ^^
Thank you a lot people, have a nice day!

Indeed the spec numbers are made with ATTO. But keep your RAIDR on the red slots :)

yep that I changed and it is better that way, it leaves more air to my gtx 770, thanks nodens

What is your 4k with as ssd benchmark?

I quickly did a test while I was rendering a big project.. so maybe the performance were a bit lower... but here is a screen ;

Thanks.

Ive to say that i was a little bit disappointed with the 4k because i had some 840 pros here which have over 30mb/s. Well it doenst really matter because the drive ist fast enough but i expected a little bit more than 20.

RAIDing won't help you much at all with 4K reads. They don't scale. They depend on the actual drive and the 840s are great drives.

Want better results? send the RAIDR back, buy 2 SSD's and RAID them together yourself, expect close to 1K read/write speeds.

Yeah i know that. Its a great drive and i use it but i just expected more from a 200+ device. nothing bad about that right :P

the results vary on my raidr , last time I got more than 30 mb/s for 4K... funny

You were rendering when you took this so that's a factor. Don't benchmark when you're doing other stuff. Specially heavy stuff.

yes, I remade a benchmark while I was not rendering and it got up to 22 mb/s for 4K read... but 40 mb/s write

IT also depends on what else is running on your systems. Anything running in the background doing File I/O, will slow it down.

Having the same problem, only 8xx scores on AS SSD, and only 6xx MB READ 4xx MB WRITE on Crystal Disk. It's even slower than OCZ Vector SATA3 SSD. I plug it in PCIE x8, don't know why.

i have this speed too. use ATTO Disk benchmark for good health. anyway you fell badself
