The update is making my CPU throttle games that were not being throttled previously.... is there anyway i can make this stop? It is giving me massive FPS drops in game making the games unplayable..

well it shouldnt be so i would hit up the windows forums and ask em. the 8.1 update should unpark all your cores by default and it gives most people like 10-30fps increase, or so ive seen multiple posts on 2 diffrent game forums (battlefield 4 and war thunder) saying that it had for those who were posting. i was already over 45+ fps on bf4 on auto (high/ultra) settings so i didnt really feel a boost but ive had 0 probs so far. try windows forums if u have a prop i gurantee someone else has the same and have asked.

My G750JX (no 3D Display) with windows 8.1 and the latest NVidia drivers from NVidia website I play Battlefield 4 on Ultra setting and Sleeping Dogs on High Setting. I am still not having any issue so far with this Laptop. don't know why your laptop is slowing your games with windows 8.1..you should install the latest GPU drivers if you haven't installed.

i have all of the latest drivers... the game where it is the worst is StarCraft 2 HotS. Before I had no problems running on maxed settings now i get huge lag spike while looking at my workers :(

thats odd, I'm on a G750JH with 8.1 and like getJohn. I've not noticed any issues I've been playing PS2, boarderlands2 and company of heros 2 and if anything performance seems a little better unfortunately I've not got Starcraft2 to test for you.

what are your CPU/GPU clocks doing when you're playing? Might help discount actual throttling vs software fault?

The issue happens both while running stock and overclocked.
