Hi guys! I'm torn between an Alienware 17 and a G750JX. I currently own an Asus K52Jr, and it's been a very good experience so far, so I'm kind of leaning towards the G750JX. But I was wondering how many USB Controllers it has. I know it has 3 (or 4) USB ports, but if someone could check device manager for me, I'd appreciate it.

It's in Device manager - View - Devices by connection, and look for USB Enhanced Host Controller, or something like that.
My current laptop actually has 2 host controllers, but one of them is used for the internal webcam, so external USB devices can't use it.

Cheers!

Just a quick reason why I need this, maybe someone uses the laptop for something similar: I will use the laptop for development as well, and would potentially connect two Kinect for Windows devices at the same time. They require two separate USB Host Controllers to work properly. Cheers again! :)

I see two Intel 8 series/C220 Series USB EHCI and Intel USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller under Universal Serial Bus Controllers in Device Manager on my G750JX. and I think its the USB host controllers you are looking for. My G750JX has only 4 USB 3.0 Ports.

Thanks for the quick reply! Just to clarify, is that one of each, or two C220 series EHCI and one USB 3.0 controller? :) Thanks again! :)

here is what I see in Device Manager:

Intel 8 series/C220 series USB EHCI #1
Intel 8 series/C220 series USB EHCI #2
Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller

I think both controllers are USB 3.0 Controllers. but supports USB 2.0 too

USB Controller drivers update on G750JX are included in the Intel Chipset driver update from Intel support website or ASUS Support site. hope this will help!!!

good, you'll be having fun with games on G750JX, but if you buy 3D Display version of this laptop, you may encounter issue with GPU driver updates as many users has reported on G750JX with 3D Display. I purchased G750JX without 3D Display and it's running very well.
