Does anybody know whether I can use a Windows 8 Pro Retail key to activate Windows 8.1 Pro for my G750JX that comes preinstalled with Windows 8 OEM (I think)?

I want to do a clean install:

I would write a 8.1 Pro default key (KMS Client setup key) into the PID.txt file of a Windows 8.1 Pro ISO and "Retail" instead of "OEM" as the "Channel type" in the ei.cfg (and then activate the Retail key after booting)?

I went through this on my JW, added Pro via the $99 Windows Pro Pack card, and it was easy, but that was Windows 8 Pro Pack. It looks like there is a new Pro Pack for Windows 8.1:

When I moved from an MSI to a G750JW, I moved my Windows 8.0 Pro Pack too, and it took a few (many) calls in to Microsoft to find the right group that would re-issue me a new code for the same Pro Pack for the new laptop.

You probably have to do the same, call Microsoft to convert the WIndows 8 Pro Pack Key to a WIndows 8.1 Pro Pack Key.

Let us know how you get it working :)
