Splendid utility? That, or else the 3D enabling. Why do you need to know what it is? Did you accidentally uninstall it?

Thx for reply! I damaged the recovery image on the HDD so I cant restore my laptop. Using ASUS official site I found all drivers and utilities but not this. This is not Splendid, 3D enabling (G55VW Full HD display with no 3D). I Think it contains all ASUS utilities in one shell. Sry for my bad English.

Not sure if there will be any problems to try this in Win8, but hopefully this information from my G75VW Win7 unit can help.

My notebook with original ASUS image still has this icon and can be re-pinned to the taskbar (if the software has been installed already and the shortcut unpinned) by showing hidden folders, looking under C:\Program Data\ASUS Resource Center to right-click and pin the ASUS Resource Center shortcut to your taskbar to get it back as below.

If you still have the original ASUS image with 'eSupport' folder under the C: drive, looks like the Win7 installation program can be found under C:\eSupport\eDriver\Software\ASUS\DeviceStage_(G series).
It may not be available for download on the ASUS site, so we may need to get you a copy if you don't have it anymore.

Otherwise, you could probably create your own taskbar shortcuts using that icon if you prefer (as long as you have the icon)?

Hmm...it looks like you should have everything you need.
If you open/run the ASUS Resource Center shortcut under ProgramData\ASUS Resource Center does it run okay and show the screen in my previous post?

If this works, you just need to right-click that shortcut and select 'Pin to Taskbar' for it to appear on your taskbar (I can post a screenshot if it will help).

When I try to run it from shortcut or direct file (C:\Windows\System32\Dxpserver.exe) nothing happens). Later I try to do this on my other laptop (ASUS N53SV) with Windows 7 HP preinstalled.

Sorry, this may not help too much, but I copied the program from my Win7 G75VW and installed it (using run as administrator) on the G750JW with Win 8.1 and can open the ASUS Resource Center screen through the shortcut installed in ProgramData\ASUS Resource Center.

Some of the ASUS Resource Center functions work, but not all in Win8.1 though.
Anyway, hope you can find a way to get it working.

Yes, unfortunately, the software may need to be updated for Win8 or for the newer programs to work properly.

If you know the path and filename of the program that will be accessed by the ASUS Resource Center though, you can try to add a shortcut or rename the program that you want to run to the one that is expected (or missing)?

Put in another way the ASUS Resource Center tries to run a certain program name in a certain location depending on your selection, so you can just try to substitute/rename your own program or shortcut instead at those same locations.

To fix it I think need to edit «Device Metadata Package» file.
File extension: <File name>.devicemetadata-ms.
File name: 74eef85a-b39b-4f62-8708-a6086f26087b (en-Us localization), 266b33ba-a198-4f67-b4fd-bf95566b973f (ru-RU localization).
Path (Windows 8): C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceMetadataSto re\en-Us (en-Us localization), C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceMetadataSto re\ru-RU (ru-RU localization)

Open file with "Win RAR" (compression software, http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm). U need to find file "tasks.xml" in 74eef85a-b39b-4f62-8708-a6086f26087.bdevicemetadata-ms tasks (en-Us localization), 266b33ba-a198-4f67-b4fd-bf95566b973f (ru-RU localization).
Path to "tasks.xml" (open file with notepad): 266b33ba-a198-4f67-b4fd-bf95566b973f.devicemetadata-ms\DeviceStage\Task\{e6fcce49-7b1d-4f6e-b2f3-4486e0005a94}\ru-RU\tasks.xml (ru-RU localization). Don't know may be the path can be different In en-Us localization. 33017

Sorry for not being more clear, but it appears you were trying to edit the ASUS Resource Center software to change the path of the program it is looking for.

It may not work, but my idea was to change/rename the program you want to run to the path and *.exe that the software is looking for instead.

For example in your post #14 screenshot you can see the error from the ASUS Resource Center reports that the file under C:\Program Files\ASUS\P4G\P4GXui.exe cannot be found (thanks for translating) and if you want to run the Power4Gear.exe application, you may want to rename it to P4GXui.exe to see if it will be run?
Not sure if Win8 may prevent you from doing this though, but hopefully you can 'trick' the ASUS Resource Center software to run the program you want this way.
