So long story short, my G73 video drivers seems to be stuck on 11.9. I am not totally computer illiterate, and I have tried everything I can think of to update these. Truly dozens and dozens of downloads, sometimes only making it worse by rolling back to a driver from 2009.

I mainly play BF4, and everytime I join a new server I get a warning telling me I am running 11.9 and should be running 13.12. I even tried speaking with ASUS online help, yet they told me 11.9 is the newest and sent to again to go download the catalyst.

What is going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.

Since you mention catalyst, I suppose you have ATI drivers, which might mean that you have a G73jh. I have 13-4 on my notebook, so it should be possible to get the latest drivers.

Correct! How did you manage to do it? I always follow the directions. I have downloaded the stupid catalyst probably 40 times over the last few months trying to update but I always end up with the same thing.

Which version are you actually running?

Howdy Rhscare,
First off before the G73JH will accept to newer drivers the vbios has to be upgraded which is explained in this thread http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?519-G73Jh-GSOD-Vbios-Update&country=&status= Once that is done, down load the proper catalyst go thru the steps radeon mobile 5870 and so on. when you run the install program choose to uninstall the old driver, after that run the install program again and do the install.
The newest one for you is 13.12 and here is the link to the download http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mobile/catalyst_mobility_64-bit_util.exe.

I hope this helps, also if you know your way around computers get cc crap cleaner from this thread http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?8981-ATI-Crap-Cleaner
Again hope it works. My G73JH was a real workhorse I was using the ati beta gpu drivers and it rocked on BF# & 4
I got a new G750JHA for Christmas so gave the G73 to my son. Again hope you get it going on the proper drivers.

Thank you for posting here. I just ran through all of this and it seems to have worked. I have been having trouble for about a year and finally found this post. I am running bios 213 and still getting some random blue pixels on any black background. This was going on before I did the vbios update and it would gradually get worse and worse then bsod or black screen on me. I now have the amd 13.12 drivers running and was able to play about an hour of world of warcraft without it crashing. Pre vbios flash, as soon as WOW would load, the system would freeze with a random solid color on the screen. Other than the random blue pixels showing up, all seems well. Any ideas of what would cause these pixels? They disappear when I "highlight" them using my mouse, but show back up after a few minutes. Something seems to be "not quite right"... :*(

f9 reinstall of windows 7 home premium and still no change, blue pixels....crash. seems like a new gpu needed? weird, not overheating, not the vbios, not the bios, not the windows install. Only way to get the thing to not crash is to not run the amd drivers......wtf.
