After all my troubles I have noticed that my laptop has a dead pixel in the top left corner....great. Have contacted the seller, but this will be the last time I ever buy from ASUS.

Why? Asus does not manufacture the screen. Most likely your screen was designed by either Chi Mei or AUO.

Well Chi Mei have manufactured the screen, just haven't seen so many issues with a laptop ever. Have sent my laptop into RMA twice already, despite solving the cause of the issue myself (additional RAM was 1.5V).

That sucks. Any tech can have issues, is it brand new?

Nearly three months old, so quite new. My first "gaming" laptop too.

I have a dead pixel too. But it's dark blue, you can't see it on any color other than black.. even then you need to look close. Center-ish bottom left.

Seems I have two, one appears on black and is close to the other one (think it's green). Just knowing they're there is annoying, other than that I need to look close to see them.

I'm annoyed too, but I'm thankful I cannot see it unless I actually look close for it.

P.S. These aren't dead pixels, they're STUCK pixels. And can be repaired if you're lucky with a few tools that can 'massage' it out.

Dead Pixels are black

Stuck Pixels are stuck to a color

Yeah I know, the stuck pixel doesn't bother me so I won't worry about it. Last time I used that tool on my galaxy player it ended up causing more pixels.

That shouldn't happen ':x

Hi angrylemon, You could try these out, maybe they will fix your stuck/dead pixels.

Tried jscreenfix for an hour last night and nothing happened, so they're not going away, well the dead one won't.

You could try udpix, that one says it will have to run for a couple hours. It's not a guaranteed fix but, like it says, you have nothing to lose to try it.

Running it now, will see in a couple of hours.

Did any of those links fix your stuck/dead pixel?

angrylemon

Nah, nothing changed will see what the tech support say.

You're supposed to run it a minimum of 8 - 10 hours.

Ran it on the stuck pixel for that long and nothing has changed.

Having a pixel right in the center would be too annoying. I do a lot of photoshop/3D work so that would annoy me to no extent. With the ones I have they sit on the menus so they cannot be seen in most programs.

Is it the speakers or the headphones making noise?

Edit: Got a reply from the ASUS staff:

"Thank you for the reply.

The ASUS ZBD Policy is a promise of perfection for within 30 days of original purchase."

Feel ripped off, basically spent the first 2 months fixing my RAM. Doesn't even feel like I have used the laptop for 30 days.
