I am considering getting my self this laptop. I am looking at newegg and see some refurbished and brand new with the latest model.

My question- is 5400 vs 7200 RPM HD going to make that huge of a difference? I will never run any games at max settings I want around 100fps for awhile. This will be for gaming and finishing up my 2nd degree and Internet / Netflix. I know the DB is the most recent model but wasn't sure what these others were? I am not sure which one to get? I do not mind refurbished. I Noticed the weight is a 4lbs difference as well as the HD space "not a problem" so any input is appreciated.

I haven't found the speed of a mechanical hard drives platters to make much of a difference for gaming performance other than games load slowly. The biggest difference that I have found between 7200rpm and 5400rpm drives is when multitasking and it isn't a nice experience at all...

I don't understand why Asus put them into the G750's but it does give you a nice excuse to get an SSD at a later stage and then use the 5400rpm drive for storage.

Well, 7200 is faster, but makes more heat.. that's all the difference.

If you play fast paced games, the 7200 will reduce oncoming object popups.

All the SSD does is make loading times faster. If you play something like F1 or WoW, you'll never see trees or stuff popping out of nowhere because it loads the moment your camera puts it into view.

So if you have a choice between only th 5400 and 7200, I'd get 7200
