What model is your computer?

At a random guess,

SSD's: Samsung EVO

RAM: Any 2x 8 gigabyte sticks. MAKE SURE THEY ARE 1.35 volt (low voltage) RAM STICKS!!

"Performance" ram is practically a gimmick, my ram's made by Hyundai and it works fine. ;d

I have a JW and did the same upgrade.

Put a Samsung EVO as the primary, made the 1TB as my secondary HDD. I also upgraded to 16GB, below is the link to the ram with the exact timings as the factory ram I have and works flawlessly.

what do you want to add ram for?
Happy with my Evo 840, definitely a worthy upgrade.

Yep get the Samsung Evo and plug it into your secondary bay.

Download a hard disk cloner and clone your mechanical drive to the SSD

Swap their Drive letters

Swap the Discs in the machine around, or just plug in the SSD into the main slot

Check if Windows 8 still works,

Then plug the other drive in and format it so it's empty and clean.

In theory this should work, not sure though. Unless you want to re-install manually.

P.S. I think you need to mount the SSD manually through the BIOS, not sure.

I've installed a 250gb Samsung EVO SSD into my G750JW and what I really like is it came with hard drive cloning software which made the transition from the normal hard drive to the SSD a one click process.

RAM wise, you have two slots underneath your laptop as I assume you have 2 x 4gb modules under the keyboard. Any 1.35v DDR3 1600 modules will work but I have used these Crucial modules and they work perfectly.
