Hi all,

I just installed a Crucial M500 drive into the second HD bay of the ASUS G53JW.

For whatever reason, the BIOS and Windows don't recognize the drive whatsoever.

The SSD does have a Windows boot partition currently on the drive, and I did ensure it was connected securely before putting the laptop back together.

Any thoughts on why this could be happening?

Thanks for the help!
Tom

I can't help but I have the same SSD going into my G53JW-A1 640m on Monday and will post results.

I know that if BIOS cant see the drive, neither will Windows. You said you had a Win boot partition on the drive already so it should be ok. I'd start by rechecking the SATA / power plugs. My G53 didn't have a second cage so I had to get one but the cage might not locate the plugs correctly?

The preceding was a total WAG (wild a@# guess), YMMV! I will post what I find on Monday.

My G53 sees the Crucial M500 as "Crucial_CT240M500SSD1" . Had to change the hard disk boot priority but windows sees it as well. I am doing the backup / restore thing to move the boot partition to a smaller drive. Should be up tomorrow.

P.S. Velcro worked perfectly to hold the SSD in place.
